Daihatsu hijet 1300 16 valve EFI dual fuel starting problems ..

Hello I am new to this forum and was wondering if anyone can help ? I have a Daihatsu hijet dual fuel 1300 16 valve EFI 2003 van that has started to play up. It has a problem starting , the engine turns but nothing then after a while I hear a noise at the back of the van like something is kicking in then it starts. Could it be the automatic choke not kicking in ?. If anyone can help I would appreciate it. After it starts I don't have a problem starting it the rest of the day until the following day when the engine has been left idle overnight.

I bet that "something kicking in" at the back is your fuel pump.

What is the behaviour of the engine warning light during these starting issues.

Hi the engine warning light stays on also the fuel gauge works intermittently.

When you turn the ignition on do you hear the fuel pump kick in?

after a while you can hear it kicking in
