Do I own a Daihatsu or Piaggio?

I have a 2005 Badged Daihatsu Hijet yet it has a plate on the body stamped "Piaggio made in Italy". There has often been confusion when trying to find or cross reference parts with some listings for Daihatsu not going up to 2005. Main dealer parts seem very expensive so maybe if I have a clearer idea of what my vehicle is then I can find cheaper parts elsewhere. Suggestions? Thanks. Chris (Norfolk)

Mine is a 1995/96 hijet, and it says Piaggio on the plate...

As far as I know, the Hijet were made by Piaggio under license from Daihatsu....

I believe most parts from a Piaggio porter will fit (but dont hold me to that...)

Hi I have a 1995 hijet van which has the piaggio plate and it is what they call badge engineering it is a hijet but made under licence by piaggio and the porter is based on it there are similarities but not every thing is the same I use the norfolk motor company http://www.nmg-uk.com/Piaggio and they used to be a diahatsu dealer so they can get parts and know whats the same and whats not.
