Starting hijet after downpour

I went to start my hijet yesterday to drop it off at a mates and it wouldn't start. All the symbol lights on the console lit up which suggested it wasn't the battery. Turned it over again and it started. My mate has now said it won't start again. It's been bucketing down for 2 days now and I just wonder if anyone has had similar problems?

mine the other day (hadnt been started for a week) and then the last 2 days it rained badly.

I started it, but after a few seconds the engine stalled...started it again and gave the throttle a good blip and all was fine...

Only think I can think is no fuel in the fuel lines...

perhaps the fuel pump isnt working :S
turn it over for a few seconds, wait, and then try again...
might be worth having the throttle on 1/4...

how old are the spark plugs?

I have no idea in relation to the Spark Plugs. A friend is taking it on Saturday for other work to be carried out so hopefully I can get it started to get to his. Many thanks for the advice, I appreciate it Dee

Ignition systems on these are crap when damp.

Check the dizzy cap, rotor arm, plugs and leads.

Often start then run abit lumpy for a 10 seconds then start firing on all 4.

It was a duff battery after all. £63 for a new one!!!!!

Theres always one! I love threepots, especially charade GTti's and the Toyota Igo aint bad. Something about a 3 banger at 7,000 rpm. Triumph speed tripples growl nice too.

Back on topic... don't be supprised if the knackard battery just showed the symptoms of other faults, how many customers have had 3 new batteries in 2 years then realise a weak alternator was the cause. When the ignition voltage is down they don't spark blue and crisp the way they should, plus it can make the coil/ignitior respond slower making the spark timing late.

I love my hijet because its the 3 cylinder...

when empty its got a surprising amount of go if you rev it...

I do wonder if its a 2 stroke though...

you pull away and its slowly accelerating, and then you get the revs over probably 4~5k rpm and it takes off

Mind you, mine will hit the rev limiter in 3rd (60mph... )

Mines the 1.3 and its not under powered in the slightest. If you grow hijet balls of steel you'd be suprised what you can keep up with but keep it real smooth, and forget about the whole crumple zone thing. Unless the tarmac is dry i'd say my hijet has far more power than traction. And to most people disbelief I can't say i've ever felt like it was going to roll over, maybe blown over on the motorway! Although they do wash out on you when the back end gets past about 30 degrees in the wet. Mine goes about 1st 20, 2nd 40, 3rd 63/5, 4th 85/7, 5th 1??ph !! I have never had the balls to hang on till it stops pulling.

Mine will hit 78mph with 2 people in it
