Mot Fail.... Empty Mot Fail....

Post by Glasgowjet Sat Oct 19, 2013 5:19 pm

Hi Folks,

I ran my van through a Mot this morning to give me an idea of what shape it's in as I haven't had time to go over it in detail.
So needles to say it failed so here is the reasons for refusal below your thoughts would be great.

Nearside headlamp aim too low

fuel system component leaking ( tester said that it's the fuel filter and the pipes that go into it that are heavily corroded )

Rear (at compensator) brake pipe corroded

Rear flexi-hose brake pipe corroded

Front pads and Discs excessively worn.

ADVISORY ITEMS...............

Both rear shock absorbers worn and bushes perished and split

Both rear leaf springs heavily corroded and weakend

Both headlamps - inside reflective coating corroded.

The weather is shocking today so I can't get a good look around it but I have a nice wee list to get through Shocked

Adjust it?

fuel system component leaking ( tester said that it's the fuel filter and the pipes that go into it that are heavily corroded )

Get a pickup filter and some high pressure fuel hose, cut the rotten stuff out and connect it up

Rear  (at compensator) brake pipe corroded

Pretty usual, awkward, but not difficult

Rear flexi-hose brake pipe corroded

As above

Front pads and Discs excessively worn.

Piece of piss

ADVISORY ITEMS...............

Both rear shock absorbers worn and bushes perished and split

Insulating tape wrapped round the old bushes

Both rear leaf springs heavily corroded and weakend

Wire brush(Dettol optional....)

Both headlamps - inside reflective coating corroded.

Yep.... Good luck....

Ahh, a typical Hijet fail list.

Sorting that fuel pipe issue will kill 2 birds - fuel consumption and an MOT certificate.

Rear brake pipes - that's bit of an arse but easy job if you know how, and have a copper flare kit.

Front brakes - well sounds like you need them, and with the above, its time to put fresh brake fluid through the whole system

Adjust your head light.

Job done
