Fuel tank protection
Has anyone designed and made a fuel tank guard?
I was having an underside poke around and noticed quite a large dent in the tank!
Mmmmm I thought - that looks like it needs a guard.
If not I will just design and make one myself.
Just thought that a proven design would save me a bit of mucking about....

Re: Fuel tank protection
I took one tank apart to find the bottom had dented in.
Which had bent the fuel gauge float tube assembly.
No wonder it no longer worked!
Wonder how common that is!!

Looking at it, the tank is very venerable to impacts.
I really don't like that. I think I will probably use some tread plate - easy to source and tough stuff.
It will be a while before I can get on to it..... but I will get on to it....
I will be dropping the tank out anyway to do a re-furb' and anti-corrosion coating etc.

Re: Fuel tank protection
Plastic tanks have issues with some of the new fuels being dished out at the fuel pumps.
Lots of car manufactures are having problems in some countries where the ethanol content is increasing.
Plastics are not stable to petrol/ethanol mixes.
