Yep a frontbumper would be nice but I think it's rather expensive to ship it to the the Netherlands.
By the way, how is the carpet?

Best of luck to you HJ on your new venture. The good thing is you have the knowledge, of Hijets, to back up the venture.

Hi Matt, I'm sorry but you can find a brand new bumper on Ebay for even 46 GBP. located in Italy. Shipping will be around 25 GBP. I'm not in a hurry so I wait for a while hoping for a breaker in the neigbourhood.

Finally seen the light then Matt. And that wasn't meant as a pun oddly enough.
It's much easier taking them to pieces AND NOT PUTTING THEM BACK TOGETHER AFTERWARDS.
The thing that I hated were the paupers wanting a Rolls Royce for sixpence
and when for example you fitted an alternator, they would come back saying " my exhaust
is blowing now and it wasn't doing that before you fitted the alternator". Total hassle !!

Provided you can buy them cheap enough -its much more lucrative and thoroughly enjoyable taking them to bits and stocking the shelves out with bits to sell--- but as you know, for the
moment I can only do it in my spare time.
My roofing work at the moment is the busiest we have been in the 7 years I have been
working with my mate of 42 years so I have a sense of loyalty to him to hang on to the bitter end as he is finally at the age of 73 calling it a day at the end of November and his Son-in-law and Grandson are taking over. No doubt I will get lumbered from time to time.

As waz says, you have the knowledge to back up the spares business so you should have
yourself a little Gold Mine eventually. Any requests I get that I cant supply I will pass them on to you.
I don't need to wish you luck as you have got youth on your side and determination so I know you will succeed Matt.

I am content to potter now buying and selling Jets on the Island and selling spares. There seems to be a bounteous supply of Daihatsu's on the island so will have plenty of them to break up for spares anyway.

Oh yes I dropped that £70 Grand Move down for mot today and it drives beautifully and cant get over the extras on it Central Locking, all 4 electric windows, electric door mirrors, tow bar
and Alloy Wheels and rear discs . Clutch seems ok -- could do with cable adjustment but its not slipping. Gonna keep it as a work horse. sunny sunny

Please send me a link to these bumpers Manuel, that is an amazing deal.

Singledad - the rear lights on this one i've just brought home are in undamaged condition Wink

Hi Woody, I have just got back from bringing another one home, lucky it made it, runs like a dog, and i've paid a bit too much for it Sad But hey ho you have to travel and find them if you want them. Part of me wonders about coming and getting a few from you on the island. Grand Moves are good versatile comfortable cars, looked at them myself a few times. Proper grandad machine Laughing

Well I am a proper Grandad Matt with 9 Grandchildren
Mind you won't get them all in a Grand Move though.

As you have seen they are very cheap down here but to make it pay for you I would imagine you would need to be able to transport 5
or 6 at a time to make it pay really. Do you have much storage space for vehicles and parts ?

Parts like doors are a pain to store I find as they take up quite a bit of room. You need plenty of shelving and storage boxes and if you can find a friendly cafe or Ice Cream Kiosk the 4litre tubs are so handy for the small bits like nuts and bolts plastic clips brake pads etc etc. Regards,Proper
Grandad.

Just sold a back bumper for not far off the same price.

Those sale bumpers will not be available for very long, it looks like a stock clearance.

I sold a cracked bumper a couple of months back for £35!

Ebay bumper guy has replied:-

Hi, I'm sorry but I don't ship otu of Italy. Bye.

I don't think the business are interested in dealing with foreign customers.

Italian business is a pain, I've had issues buying and selling there before.

Many businesses strictly won't sell to Italy due to the bureaucracy.

how many bumpers do you think you could fit in the back of a hijet? That would be a road trip and a half!

p.s. HJ If you do decide to start that venture then good luck to you! There is clearly a demand and I know I'll be ordering from you if you do!

I have in the past sold good front bumpers for £70 and on these linked in web-breakers they ask £90 and £90 for a headlight. £45 for a good used bumper is very reasonable.

You wait till you start selling spares then Matt. The
Phone drives you mad.
I used to get more done between 6am and 9am when the calls start, than in the rest of the day. You will be mithered then, but as you know it's a great feeling helping people.

Exhausting isn't it Matt ? You can spend so much time dealing with peoples enquiries --- obviously in my Ford days it was phone only but now e-mail enquiries back and forth take so much longer than a phone call.

Then you have GOT to have the spares on the shelf ready to go -- which at the moment I havent like I had with the Ford Spares. At the moment I have got six for breaking but so little time to strip them down to the bare shell and get shot of and then strip the next one.

I have found that parcelling up is so time consuming -- getting carriers to phone back with a price for carriage etc --so much to do and so little time left. Need to be an Octopus.
Stick at it son -- it will be worth it in the long run. Never had so much money in my life
when I was doing the Ford Spares and that was only on the Island too.
I used to have a roll of Tenners in my pocket big enough to choke a Donkey -- every week.

Hi Matt, how about this

A front bumper for GBP 51,-- and shipping Worldwide. Will this make your day?
I think something went wrong with this ad because he's located in Italy and not Australia.

Thank you very much LP. That sounds like just what the Doctor ordered. Haven't had a chance to log on for a bit on my Laptop and catchup with what's going on out there in Hi-Jet World. Just been using my Tablet to keep up with incoming E-mails.

Roof work has gone absolutely crazy and I am getting too old now for the 14 to 16 hour days I am working with that and the Garage. Have dug out a
Van Parking area for another 4 Hi-Jets and built a Metre high Concrete retaining wall at the back of it . The earth was about 4 feet deep that we dug out and was delighted to find a large concreted area underneath it all dating back to the Fifties I have found out.

Have finished all the conditions from the Planninng Department and they came Friday afternoon and it has passed muster so can ---- and have started
breaking vans again. Also sold the Green MPV I bought for £200 (and took the 4 new tyres and new battery off for my MPV) tonight on Wightbay for
the full £635 asking price so very happy with that.

But all that has come with a price-- have been in real bad pain with Arthritis in my hands, back, neck and hips and the Achilles Tendon is agony.
Need a FULL SERVICE EXCHANGE BODY. May be in pain -- but aint lost my sense of humour. Its the only thing that keeps me going.
