Hijet Van - Breaking
Hello people
right, my hijet has a terminal rust problem, so is no longer on the road.
its currently acting as a shed (and a might fine one as well!)
so if anyone wants a part, just ask....
if its got it, and its in usable condition, then it can be sold.
as far as I'm concerned the only things that cant be sold are the chassis/body, doors and preferably windows (only because I'd have to board them up, and the window winder clips have been repaired anyway)
I'll remove any parts and take photos if required, but I will do my best to accurately describe them anyway.
there is a good engine and gearbox (clutch might need replacing though). engine did start pressurising the coolant due to head gasket weeping, but a tub of K-Seal sorted that.
gearbox selected gears nicely and worked as it should.
rear axle didnt whine (at least, I never noticed it)
set of 5 steel wheels - 4 excellent condition tyres with less than 2,000 miles of use. spare tyre isnt very good
wheels themselves are usable (patches of surface rust), but a clean up and paint would transform them.
the 4 good tyres are proper van tyres, not car tyres, so no insurance issues.
tyres were £50 each new, but not expecting anything near that...
message me for more details, and to come to a price arrangement on any parts.
P.S. Cash on collection is always welcomed, but paypal is next best option.
will post smaller parts via Royal Mail or courier if required.

My Hijet served a good purpose (it was bought cheap so I could learn to drive :p)
I knew it probably wouldnt pass another MOT though...
I've got a Land Rover Series 3 which I was restoring before I got the Hijet.
as for where abouts in Sunny Cornwall, I'm near Truro.
and as for what front end, its a 1996 1.0L 3 Cylinder EFI.
so the front end looks like this:
https://2img.net/h/i120.photobucket.com/albums/o187/mazy_2007/18072010312.jpg
(thats not my hijet, thats a picture I've linked to of Matts (funky-hijet) Hijet, from this forum......hope he doesnt mind :p)
EDIT:
Second time I forgot to add, the 4 good tyres are 155R12 Steel Belted Radial Light Truck tyres

Hi how much for the tyres\wheels and would you be able to hold them till August as we will be on holiday in Somerset, we could give you a deposit if you wished only Essex to you wouldn't warrant the fuel.

Re: Hijet Van - Breaking
Right, just an update:
The rear leaf springs, front hubs/discs/ have been sold.
the steering wheel has been sold.
the distributor has been sold.
awaiting on a response about the wheels...
if anyone wants anything thats left (apart from the chassis/body and doors/windows), just ask
obviously, the engine doesnt run any more (dizzy was sold :p), so if anyone wants a part off the engine itself, I can strip it for any parts...

Re: Hijet Van - Breaking
Hi sorry for the delay in getting back to you, let the wheels go to someone else the price is good but the logistics are a pain and I found a nail or something in one so will need to replace sooner rather than later.

For handles I can recommend Sean at hijetparts.co.uk. They're brand new, and good. http://www.hijetparts.co.uk/products

I'll take them off ASAP and check they are OK with no damage and will get back to you.
as for the wheels/tyres, will have a look at shipping them, but I'm not sure I will be able too cheaply...
where abouts are you?

I normally use Interparcel or Parcel Monkey (depending on which is cheapest)
or Royal Mail of course (for smaller stuff)

I saw your wanted ad for a headlight, but yours is a 1999, mine is a 1996 (the older shape), so it wont fit (different shape)
but they are still here at the moment.
van will be destroyed soon (probably within the next 2 days), so if anyone wants anything, you will have to be VERY quick.

online parts
I have managed to source a replacement headlamp and indicator for £50 inc p&p from a decent sounding scrapper called mega 24 breakers, but I am amazed at how awful it is sourcing parts online. Most companies seem to be out to rip you off in one way or another, they try and get you to phone high cost numbers, send expensive texts and when you ring them the only thing they seem interested in is getting your credit / debit card details. I did not trust them at all, the worst I think is jap parts in birmingham, very dodgy I would not believe a word they say, I think that they say anything just to get you to given them your card number.
In the end the best method i found was trudging through ebay looking for contact details of anyone selling Hijet bits and phoning them. They all seemed to me like normal honest people. Its strange how looking for car parts online seems more risky than looking at porn!
What a strange world we live in.
