Which alloys?
These are whats on the Bumblebee.
the prev owner took off the fronts because they were shaking above 50Mph but "wasnt always doing that"....
there are balance weights on the inside of at least one that i looked at.
Anyone know what these are, should i have anything else on the hub?
PS i also have a full set of Steel rims with tyres + a spare
Think they are these: TSW Quad.

Re: Which alloys?
Don't think TSW make many 4x110 rims. Bodgy bodge I bet & poorly studs.
175/70/13 are a bit big for a hijet and they'll catch the arches on some turns.
Plus they will make the steering feel really heavy.
If they are 4x110 not 4x108 I'd look at getting smaller tyres for them, at least on the front axle.
For a little bit of fun, I'd bet 50p they are 4x108, but I hope they are 4x110 for your sakes.
Measure real carefully as it not alot of difference but so so important.

Re: Which alloys?
if i measure starting from 100mm... it measures 108mm
if i start from the end of the tape.. it measures 110mm
so heres a pic with tape in situe.. but not held down as tape kept on falling away!

Re: Which alloys?
I'm sure you'll get the truth with a few attempts.
I wouldn't use the end of the tape as it pushes and pulls for builder style accuracy!
But from that photo I would guess that they are 108mm

Re: Which alloys?
if they are.
Do alloys really get stolen that easy to have to use locking wheel nuts?
i hate them with a passion!

Re: Which alloys?
The only time I have had alloy wheels stolen is when they have been in my garden.
Bastard scrap metal thieves!! I've had 3 sets nicked in total from my garden over the years.
Last set of wheels they stole from my garden were worth a small fortune, and they will have just weighed them in the daft gits and got £50 for a set of wheels that'd get best part of £400 on ebay.
They also stole the radiators and cat converters.
Now everything is kept locked away. Except for the dog.

Re: Which alloys?
if they fit/work etc.. they would be fitted.. & the steel set kept in the shed out of sight.

Re: Which alloys?
PCD 4x110mm wheels fitted with wobble nuts are sort of safe-ish as long as the centre bore matches the flange on the hub so it all stays centred.
No wobble nuts is a nasty accident waiting to happen as the studs are forced to bend and incorrectly loaded. And as most alloys are wider with a larger offset they are putting even more load on the studs than normal.
I like my wheels to stay on when I'm cornering. It's sort of a key issue in my little deluded reality.
I don't know how anyone can be so clueless to force fit a set of 108's on a 110 hub without noticing or thinking to them self - is this safe?! I guess ignorance is bliss.

Re: Which alloys?
Its hard to tell from the pix, but I reckon looking at the stud holes theyre 108s forced on. The stud holes look a wee bit less than perfectly round?

Re: Which alloys?
yeah i did spot that O-ness.
will see if i can enrol a mate to hold the tape better.
when i measure em.. i get 2 measurements.
And plz excuse my confusion... 110mm = 108mm =
I didn't fit this lot, but I am certainly checking they are ok/not as from the little I have read on here about rims... It's not easy to get the right ones & is why I am checking.
If they aren't right.. Like other stuff off the van not wanted.. Will sell em.
wobble nuts?.. google here i come!

Re: Which alloys?
Prob cos the holes are a bit elongated creates disparity in the measurements, Hijets are an arsehole to get wheels for, unless you buy new. But as many here have proved, perseverence pays off
I had a wheel.come off a.Marina van i.had yeqrs ago, Fiat 132 wheels stuffed on(2-3mm difference, 95.25 as opposed to 98) sheared the studs, wheel goes bye bye, suddenly I have a Reliant Robin......
I dont give a flying f*** what others say, dont fit 108s. Its dangerous. Suddenly having a three wheeler at 60 mph isnt fun, trust me.

Amen to that. Wheels are quite important
Re: Which alloys?
Ok... still confuzed....
110s are Ok to use?
Bear in mind that I havnt been reading the alloy threads as didn't need to..... Till now.

Re: Which alloys?
Could I get away with the 108s & fit with wobbly nuts?
Still only just looking at this one.
2nd option is to sell the rims & get the steel set powder coated silver?
Rim tape..... Feck I hate that stuff!!!

Re: Which alloys?
Nowt wrong wi some rimmin............
Wobbly bolts arent a good idea unless your wheels are hubcentric, only the fronts are on a Hijet, the rears are lugcentric
( thatll give you summat to look up on Googly )

Re: Which alloys?
been a googling... lemme see if i got it right.. or understand it.
Hubcentric = is a spacer/filler that needs to take up slack between the hub & rim centre/hole
lugcentric = correct flush seating of the wheel nut in to the rim.

Re: Which alloys?
Yep, and most cars don't have a hub location ring - they just have wheels that the centre bore fits the hubs correctly.
p.s a set of wobbly nuts would burn a £70 hole in your pocket too.

Re: Which alloys?
£40-50 for 20 on flea bay
found the "size" from daihatsu drivers web site......
aim this weekend to have all the wheels off & look at steering, grease up, & will see if prev owner even had wobbly nuts.. etc.. on this thing.. bet he didnt!

Re: Which alloys?
They are really cheap compared to when I last looked for wobble nuts.
A bargain at that sort of money.
When you add it all up, I paid about the same for each of the both sets of pcd4x110 wheels I've got. You just have to wait for them to turn up.

Re: Which alloys?
Oh yes, and don't forget, you're still on a bit of a wobbly standing on the back wheels, because the hijet is lugcentric (new word of the day!) on the rear e.g. no centre hub

Hmmm, so you didn't need to Google rimming then?...
