Noises From My Back End
No, not the trouser trumpet.
Noticed a kinda "clicking" noise coming from the back end lately. Its obvious at very low speeds, disappears/cant hear it at higher. Wonder if its connected to excessive wheelspinning?.....

Re: Noises From My Back End
Well, Easter Monday was interesting, was down at Moffat, popped round to see if the guy still had his old Spitfire in the front garden

After coming round the wee roundabout had a really loud clunking, esp as i braked. Methinks there's a bit missing from the galaxy
Maybe looking for a diff

Re: Noises From My Back End
Probably easier to swap the whole axle over.
More likely to find one for sale too.

Re: Noises From My Back End
Well, i'm buggered if i know what sup
Took the diff back plate off, it's got better teeth than me. Wee bit o backlash, but not excessive, dunno how much it should have but doesn't seem shagged? Wasted the toe of my Cat SRX's stopping one wheel(thought it was coming off the tyre, time for new bootees) no clunking, stopped the other side, same.
I'm f***in mystified?

Re: Noises From My Back End
How bizarre though, wonder what's making this clunking.
I guess its inspect the brakes and hubs next.

Re: Noises From My Back End
Been there done that? Just had my botty pumped at Halfrauds for diff oil, but i need the van tomorrow after work(i'm levelling a garage site for yet more storage, can't see me getting a wheelbarrow etc in the Merc)
Just going to run it & see?

Re: Noises From My Back End
Still fucking rumbling & clunking!
Starting to wish i'd kept the old one, kinda busy just now, bike needs MOT'd before we go away in May, got this garage to dismantle, move and rebuild, i could do without the bloody hassle(and cos i need it to get stuff for building the garage i can't afford it to fuck up just now so i'm using the Merc to commute, 50 miles a day at 27mpg... )

Re: Noises From My Back End
I sold my spare prop shaft for £30, and it was in good nick.
No wonder he bit my hand off.

Re: Noises From My Back End
£30? I'd have taken the arm along with yer hand.
Upside is the new one's have came down in price, it's only around £230 now....

I was thinking, maybe you should ring some other dealers, or even the Daihatsu main UK head office on
CONTACT US
If you have any questions, please contact the Daihatsu Hub on 0121 730 8225.

Re: Noises From My Back End
I could see a lot of Daihatsu dealers dodging work. They have always been a crap dealer network, and since they don't sell new cars anymore (not that they sold many anyway) I can't see them having a positive helpful attitude.
Do you mean RN - Royal Navy?
Shafted all right, doesnt come up on the system
Possibly cos it was a RN vehicle when new?
