fitting diesel fan switch

Hi if you want to use the diesel fan switch to lower the temp and run the fan longer then see the link below

This is the only way into this page on my site its a copy of what LP was sent.

fitted the switch to my EFI van (petrol) yesterday, works fine.
got a sore neck from soldering the wires while on the ground!

Since removing the radiator fan wiring plugs to check continuity and solder in an overide switch - the fan now starts automatically whenever needed!

Just a push and pull to overcome a little corrosion in a wiring socket!

Incidentally, when I removed the cylinder head to find where the water was disappearing, the head gasket was disintegrated and the water pump gasket the same . . .

would i be able to use heated rear window switch which dont work for the manual overide switch for the rad fan?
by the way the switch works ive tested it.

Why do you even want a manual over ride switch?

like every hijet owner on here because the hijet coolant system is crap.

Yes I use one for the fan but I still run it through a relay for my peace of mind, I like a good pudding but rice don't belong in pudding.

Seconds on still running the fan through a relay, lots of amps being drawn for the fan can melt most switches & wiring.

Just for those who dont know thin/crap wire causes electrical resistance, electrical resistance causes the wire to warm up, this in turn increases the electrical resistance and so on until things start to melt if you are lucky or flames start to appear or worse.

Was the original post showing you how to swap the fan switch which is located in the metal coolant pipe for the diesel version?

Or did it show you how to wire in a manual over ride?

You leave the fan switch in the pipe altogether. No need to touch it.
I fit a rocker switch into the little coin holder on the centre console and put two wires through the rubber grommet that the handbrake lightswitch goes through in the hand brake mounting panel straight to the Fan Relay which is just under the seat. 12" of wire ((behave Logi) straight to the relay and job done.
No need for all this rubbish about extra relays and thicker wires and resistance etc. All you are doing is bridging the operation of the Relay which is a tiny current, not the output to the fan which is a big drawer on current but is obviously accommodated for in the Daihatsu loom.

I was hoping that the switch on the diesel models switched the fan on at a lower temperature. That's how I interpreted it with the link not working.
