So I had a look at this hijet, white pickup LPG. Shame the guy wants way to much for it so I walked away.

Just driving back from the pub - the guy rings me

Errr, this hijet - yes mate - what would you have it for?

I make my offer.

Well if you put another £100 on it we've got a deal

Nah mate I wont pay a penny over my offer,

I'll give you a ring back in a bit, let me have a word with my mate.

So i might have a hijet Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy We'll see hey

I want a pickup for the lower centre of gravity and lower in weight all round.

And because I want exhausts up the back of the cab like big american wagons - with the little flapper cover things too Very Happy

An exhaust per engine, and a big air intake roof scoop in the middle

Am I sad? Laughing Laughing Laughing

My mate did that in the 80s on his Mini pick up, using custom car side pipes.
Like these...

Logi, theres another video of that pickup on youtube. One where the lads are building it and they have it up for sale. They build those bumpers from scratch.

Kent, those pipes are beautiful, I love the shape of the end and the embossed thrush logo, on my watch list they go! If they are a bargain the flappers can be forgot Laughing

Ok big balls cheers <- i'm waving

Anyway back to the hijet madness reality escape Wink

So I went back today with an envelope full of cash and a spare driver to get my car back. Kicked the tyres a bit, said that the dents in the bodywork was more than i'm willing to sort out for £600 as I offered over the phone.

So I dropped the bomb, "when you've still got it in three months mate give me a bell, i'll give you £350 for it but otherwise you can keep it, me and you both know that it's just ran out of tax and sooner or later the MOT will run out, then its as good as scrap."

I await a phone call Wink if he doesn't call then sod it. I want one with a clean bodyshell, and this has a dented passenger door, a dent on the A pillar, the passenger door is dented and the bulk head behind the passenger door has hit something. Realisticly it's going to cost me £500 in the bodyshop to make mint. And a mint pickup is what i'm after. Engine and LPG kit is meaningless to me, and really I'd prefer a pre 2001 model for cheap tax. It puzzles people when I say that I'm less intrested in new ones than pre 2001 ones. Most people like newness in a car purchase.

Bet he flipping hates me right now. Oh well, he can get to the back of the hating matt cue. I know i'm pushing it a bit as it was up for £1250 or something Laughing

don't rule out a post 2001, I have a 04 and 05 lpg pick up's both cheap tax, and if you get a running lpg pick up apparently with a letter from a lpg fitting station and a trip to dvla they will amend

Post 1st April 2001 = £115.50 for 6 months, £210 for 12 months.

I think "Alternative fuel car TC59" gives £10 discount from memory

Pre 1st April 2001 = £71.50 for 6 months, £130.00 for 12 months

Thats like over a whole days wages I save a year, and hell I don't do many days work. I keep it all pretty lean round here. Aldi shopping, led bulbs, and nothing lives on standby. Its not laziness, I prefer the word efficient.

There's gotta be a clean one that's got overly warm out there Very Happy

Nice truck but got to go soon as a nice man (Thomas from St Helens) Decided he wanted the amber LED's of the front but only had a crow bar to remove them, the courts did award me 230 ukp compensation

That is so odd Dino, at first the dvla tax lookup on your reg puzzled me, I am really so glad you have hi-lighted this!!! You have educated me (and us it would seam hey Logi!!!)

I have completely overlooked this catagory:-

Euro 4 Light Goods Vehicles (TC36)
Registered between 1 March 2003 and 31 December 2006 (not over 3,500kg)
£130 12 months + £71.50 for 6 months

So basically, don't buy a van/pickup between 1st March 2001 till 1st March 2003 or your getting ripped off!!!

Thank you cheers

Sorry that you got done by that traveller guy. £230 doesn't really make up for anything really.

Glad to be of service on dvla I learnt the hard way, had a 2002 Peugeot 206 van full road tax, sold it and got a 07 Fiasta Van and Guess what............full road tax

You read about him then, I stpudly left it up in a locked yard with CCTV in Leek, Doesn't bother them though, 9 oclock in the evening, still light, no covering of the face either, they paid me compensation for the lights and sat nav only (yes it was in the glove box) nothing for damage to her or a bunch of plant keys he took, would love to put a reward on the keys but could open a can of worms,

Shame it had a easy life on Emerdale before I had her

Looking at the picture I think I see a rear wiper. And the seats don't have the separate head rests like the pickups do as standard.

Also the roof is wrong, vans and MPV's have the high top roof, while the pick ups are only as tall as the windscreen

But not 100% sure.
