A man after my own hart.!
Also I do abit of djing and needed to shift kit about
My cars always seemed to have the back seats down.
Also how many vans out there have a £130 tax for a year .(I know some jets fall foul and get stung for 210) ouch!
I've had my van for almost 2 years and it been the best 500 quid I've ever spent!

Cheapest insurance I could find, and for the price, the most space for the size. Been a steady runner ever since.

Re: Why did you buy a hijet?
I opened a fresh copy of buy and sell while I ate bangers and mash with onion gravy at the dining table of my old house. I opened the buy sell on a random page, and this advert shone at me:-
Daihatsu Hijet MPV, 1.3 petrol, Silver, 21k, 2 Lady owners, T+T, £795 ono call 01270 xxxxxx
I just had to have it for some unearthly reason. My mates faces when they first saw it!

I needed a van to shift stuff doing up the house, bought the 1st one, hoped it'd last 6 months, 2 years later and i've bought this one. Stuffed more into it than anyone would believe, now i can't do without it?

Got hooked on them whilst working for Romahome. Loved the LPG option for economy and it performed as well as petrol.
The demountable Demonstrator I took away on service and warranty trips I would wring the nuts off it and the look on peoples faces as I passed them at 85 - to 90mph was utterly priceless !!
That was the start of my love affair with Hi-Jets in 2003.

Re: Why did you buy a hijet?
I did get quite a few 'wtf's when I bought mine, along with 'they blow head gaskets' and 'she'll topple on the first bend you come to'. Neither have happened, and it's proved pretty useful. I can fit at least 9 bales of hay in it, and I love fitting under car height barriers at car parks, although I don't like the charges.

Re: Why did you buy a hijet?
Bought mine when the Honda Acty I inherited gave up the battle with tin-worm. Bought it as an ex-demo less than 6-months old in 1995 - been driving it ever since. Bought another (1998) a few years back for the delivery van as a replacement for a Rascal (which replaced - shudder - a Marina van)

Re: Why did you buy a hijet?
Ours was found as my wife needed a small van for her business as it had out grown our car and we still had a small child we needed to take about with us and was looking at midi vans with three seats when I said she could get all her gear in a (super) carry but they only had two seats when she found the Hijet MPV then found one for £300.
Re: Why did you buy a hijet?
Recently bought my first HiJet, as a third car purely for Fishing trips, and lugging my gear around the lakes in the UK.
Reason being, as a third car I needed something very cheap to run, and small.
