Strut and suspension for Daihatsu hijet 1997 1221cc diesel

Hi everyone,

I've just bought a 1997 1221c S85 Diesel Hijet and unfortunately the wheel literally snapped off 6 days after buying it

The strut and suspension assembly has totally corroded and I'm trying to source a new part. someone has suggested finding the number of the exact part I need as apparently each model needs something slightly different.

Does anyone know the exact model needed for my model van?

Can’t help with the part numbers but if that’s the state of the suspension I would be certainly getting someone to check out the rest of the body mounting points etc, as if they are as bad then it may not be worth even sorting the suspension. If it had an MOT I would be questioning it!

Hi Raggy, I bought the van off a guy who'd bought it from a garage 3 months prior. We spoke to them about the issue and they tried to blame the guy who had owned it for 3 months. Having trawled through MOT papers, it had the issue for years and mysteriously disappeared when they MOT'd it.

Luckily it seemed the van had had a lot of money spent on in prior to them taking it on, back when it was MOT'd at a proper garage!!

Once I've sorted this issue on the van, I'll be getting rid of it!

Looks like it's right - I think they're all the same on an S85 actually
