Re: gear box stuck
Hi does the gear stick move? there are two cables which control the box so depending on why it's stuck you may be able to fiddle the levers at the box end.
Re: gear box stuck
Yes gearstick does move, I'll try that and see if I can free it. if not "I don't know"

Re: gear box stuck
Most cable controls end up being dry (causing them to stick or jam).
if you can move the gearbox end, check the cable fittings at the gearstick and gearbox are OK.
and also spray some WD40 or similar down the cables. its not the best lubricant, but its an easy test.
what year and model hijet is it?
and where abouts are you?

I think theres a few members near you then
depending on how mechanically minded you are, you might be able to strip the gearbox and find/solve the issue.
other than that, its a new gearbox thats needed....

Re: gear box stuck
Hi I'm in Harlow and the most common failure on boxes is a spring but I'm a bike mechanic and haven't had a car box apart, There is a gearbox place on The Hainault business park (Fowler road) and one of my mums neighbours used to do box rebuilds last I heard he was free lancing so I will try and get a number for you.
Re: gear box stuck
Did have it fixed but it's done the same again. Think we was ripped off though. Does anyone know someone in the Ockendon area who works on these and is reliable and fair? Don't want to end up scrapping it but if I cant get this fixed I'm going to have to.

They do have a transporter for pick ups but don't know how far they would travel or what they charge I know they will pick up from mine for free but I'm less than five miles away.
On the other hand I have a towing bar and me and my mate dragged ours back from Surrey.
Re: gear box stuck
I'd be tempted to pick up a second hand gearbox for it and just change it over.
You can easily spend more cash on fixing them then a used one would burn you.
Gearbox swap is only a few hours labour, in and out in a day.

Thanks all, I'm going down the second hand gear box route. Will let you know how it goes.
