Radiator Fan Not Cutting in.
Hi all, ages since I have posted!. Resurrected Tuki out of the garage as it'll soon be season time and I need him out there earning me money!! lol.
The last time I worked on him, I removed the radiator as it needed the brackets modifying to lower the rad by about 8-10mm. I disconnected all water pipes and wires to the fan etc, removed the rad with fan, altered brackets, refitted rad etc, filled up with water only to disciver that the fan doesn't work anymore!. It worked fine when all the Hijet stuff was fitted to Tuki but now does not want to know.
I have bled the system, started a fresh twice as I thought it might be an air lock but still not working. I am now under the impression that it may be a dead switch or wire etc at fault. Someone said that i can test the fan, switch etc myself so as to save myself taking it to an auto electrician.
Can any one tell how I go about trying to find out what's at fault?. Could it be a thermostat etc?.
Any help would be much appreciated!!!.
Thanks Scotty

Re: Radiator Fan Not Cutting in.
Did you disconect the wiring? if so where from I think there are two plugs the same one into the fan one into the thermoswitch if not then disconect the plug from the thermoswitch at the bottom of the rad and short out the connections with the ignition on and the fan should come on if it does then remove the switch and string it up in a saucepan of water like you test a stat and check that the continuity is open and then boil the water the manual gives a temperature that the switch should operate at I think its 85 degs and it should have continuity at this temp it's not the easiest thing to test unless you have a spare bit of loom with the plug on.

Cool. Thanks for that I'll give it a whirl in the morning and report back!.
Re: Radiator Fan Not Cutting in.
I have tried bridging the switch but the fan doesn't cut in. I guess this means that there is no 12v supply going to the fan?. I thought I'd start by checking fuses etc but as I don not have a clue which fuse controls the rad fan I might be some time!!.
Re: Radiator Fan Not Cutting in.
All sorted!!. When I put the wiring loom from the Hijet into the Tuk Tuk I had to cut the fan wires and reconnected them with some of those crimp connectors. I removed all the insulation tape that was covering them to find that the wires had pulled out of the connectors. Put on new connectors and all is working great!.
