Central locking - again!! Empty Central locking - again!!

Hi guys, hope someone can help as you did before.

My Porter's central locking has gone a little wierd. Yesterday I locked it as normal, as I was close to the vehicle I noticed that the noise it made was not the usual 'clunk!' but a rather subdued 'fffft'. I tried it again with the same result, shortly after this the c-locking failed. As locking the drivers door with the key did not activate the c-locking as well as the remote, I reasoned that it was the fuse, which it was (no easy task to get to it either but I managed). A new fuse cured the problem, but the lack of clunk remains. The passenger door has not locked with the rest for a while now, but I have tried with the sliding doors open one at a time (reasoning that the doors wont lock when they are open, so might not activate the motor?), the noise is still a 'ffft'.

My thought is that it might be the drivers door locking mechanism that sends the signal to the rest of the doors sticking or something that then causes the system to overload and blow a fuse, but thought I'd check with the forum to see if there are any good ideas before I start taking door cards off etc.

I have hands on tinkered with maybe 60 to 70 hijets at a guess.

I don't think I've ever seen one with Central locking.

My Porter has a separate fob with the centrallocking button on it. Same button for lock and unlock.

Does the passenger door lifter go up and down when you operate it manually or is it jammed? If it is an aftermarket kit they use steel wire and screw couplings to connect to the existing lifter mechanism. Maybe one of these has come loose and changed the angle to one that is too difficult for the actuators to work with. Take the door cover off and have a look. If this isn't the case and you are receiving a voltage to the actuator then looks like actuator is kaput.

Thanks I'll try the passenger door, it's the obvious first port of call really. The passenger door lifter operates normally with no stiffness or jamming. The family have owned the van from new, it has always had the CL fob with it, and the manual seems to back up the original part moniker.

I'm not sure if central locking was standard, an option or an option that dealers fitted to everything they sold. Certainly my 1996 SE has it, Rich the mechanic's had it and all Piaggio Porters seemed to have it. The only thing is that sellers don't seem to pass the fob on -- I haven't got one and neither did Rich.

Only slightly connected - I had a problem with the central locking on my hold Hyundai Terracan. Clicking the fob would see the locks unlock but then re-lock themselves, with varying degrees of urgency. Sometimes they would get stuck in loop of continual locking-unlocking. I wonder if it might have been something along these lines that burnt your fuse? None of the manual locks felt stiff.

Online forums did suggest it might be actuator problems but I ended up opening each door panel and cleaning/lubing all the mechanisms. It took doing this a number of times to eventually solve the problem but it did eventually go. Cold weather was worse. My understanding was that if any one lock did not function fully, the whole locking system would throw a fit. I never did pin down exactly which lock the problem lay with due to my scattergun approach to solving it although my suspicion lay with the boot lock.
