Hi I'm new on to this forum my wife got a 993cc MPV end of last year for her business(self employed) and it falls to me to sort out and drive had the over heating issues oh and the parts issues but getting there. I found Essex libraries had a diesel manual listed but no petrol so got it anyway only to find that the diesel bit is a suppliment and I had the CB41 & 42 genuine dealer book will give it back soon as I have nearly finished with it.

Hopefully get van sorted and have good things to say about it.

newby and manual Empty central locking

Post by rich the mechanic Mon Jan 04, 2010 7:38 pm

Okay but the boxes are not conected to anything and I couldn't find them on the wiring diagram. Can they be activated and linked up coz we were talking about fitting central locking as we will be using it to go to out door shows and we have to take my step son with us till he's old enough to be left on his own over night and I fitted remote operation to my basic key activated system on my old mk3 escort.

I'll have to take a pic at the weekend all I can remember from when I was fixing the door handle is they have two wires, it has a green plastic cover and it's buried down in a tight section and nothing appears to be attached to it other than the two bolts that go through the door slam I'm a motorcycle engineer by trade and having played with a few cars I only know Fords really well (got a mk3 Escort Ghia, a mk2 Escort GL and sold our 1966 Corsair a couple of years ago). what do you mean by crossovers?

A crossover is an electronic module that splits a speaker output into trebble, midrange and bass for running high end car door speakers.

Ok crossovers now sound very unlikely as apart from the remains of the wiring in the dash console for a head unit the only other sign a sound system was fitted is the front door speakers which the wiring comes out the dash and goes behind the door card will have to trace the wires in to the dash as haven't looked any further and these items look like a factory fit apart from the wiring route.

Rich,

Are you sure your wife bus ain't the same as mine - i.e. an ex 'Motorbility' machine? I've got extra bits of wiring all over the gaff here; some of it belongs in a house and not in a van Shocked Shocked

Where the centre seats fitted facing backwards, with an added in extra bulkhead covering below? If so, it's better than even odds you've got the same as me......... And all the attendant problems............. So far, I've isolated the winch circuit and the intergrated lock out, managed to find the wiring for the tow hitch and worked out that the aux heater unit for the rear of the vehicle doesn't work anymore and has an air lock in it causing the engine to run a little hotter than I like (so thats coming out as well). The only good bit about all this is the former owner(s) of the van kept the crappy photocopy of the wiring diagram of all the extra wires added during the build, it's a pity nobody thought to add colour codes.

To check for certain, do you know if the bus has an emergency switch under the carpet of the drivers seat and an odd 3 pin socket mounted just inside the off side rear door pillar, it may also have a big red power cut off button some where else as well.

Now I know why I love Honda motorcycles so much! Maybe I should just rewire the whole bus like my bike Twisted Evil Twisted Evil

Hi as far as I can tell so far I haven't found anything like you have in yours the only odd bit of wiring I've seen are these bits in the door. as for bikes the Hondas are easy wiring on the small old ones but ythe later ones are just as much of a pain me I prefer my Yamahas although my first two bikes were Hondas.

Top prize goes to Tukz the electric gizmos in the doors are central locking motors now I've had a chance to look again and the front doors are also fitted the only one that isnt is the tailgate, only had a peek behind the front door cards but the drivers door doesn't have enough wires to operate so when its warmer and I feel inclined Ill have to have it all apart properly and see if I can get it sorted. Still it looks to be a factory fit to well bracketed.

Right now I have read the whole topic the answer is yes I fixed it they are central locking motors the wiring for the drivers door was completely broke and one end was in the wing the other in the door all works fine now and have remote locking too by the look of the lables on the central locking relay and the way it is routed it is a dealer/after market fit system supplied by Piaggio.
