Nuts and Bolts Empty Nuts and Bolts

Post by wrightgeordie Tue Feb 02, 2016 12:14 pm

I want to replace the nuts and bolts that secure my front wheel hubs to the suspension struts. Thinking they were just plain 12mm bolts all be it with and odd size head, off I went to my local supplier of all things with threads on to be told "sorry mate never seen anything like that before".

Anybody got a clue as to what type of nuts and bolts Daihatsu use? Metric, metric fine, UNF etc are all no good.

If it helps I measured the bolts across the shoulders (the unthreaded bit) and they are each 11.88mm in diameter, an unusual size. Why not 12mm as I'd expected, cant think of any reason why they'd use a special size.

Think Ill just ream the holes out and fit a normal 12mm bolt.

They are a Metric 8mm thread with 12mm or 13mm spanner size head depending on who has been let loose on your Hi-Jet before. Nothing special at all about them at all.
