fuel consumption
Hi everyone
I'm thinking of buying a hijet and was wondering what fuel consumption was like, I had bedford Rascal years ago and it was very thirsty, so I hope the Hijet is better
thanks del1656

I had a Rascal for years until it got nicked. Your right they are thirsty. Had a Honda Acty before that and it was much faster than the Rascal and did 50mpg on a regular basis. The Hijet is better, returning around 35mpg but mine is a working van and is often fully loaded. Get one with LPG and they are very cheap to run. I get about 160-170 miles out £16 of gas.

I'm averaging around 40 in town, '08 1.3. A lot depends on the right foot.

That's true PFM. When I was on my HGV Training course back before most of you were born the the Instructor kept saying " Feather the brakes, Feather the brakes man.
I wasn't used to air brakes and kept sticking the three of us through the windscreen. And he kept rollicking me for left foot braking too, a skill that I adopted early in my driving career and still do to this day.
Its a shame that I didn't learn the same feathering technique for the accelerator pedal. I would be a much richer man now.

Re: fuel consumption
The Hijet is really susceptible to leadfoot, makes a huge difference to mpg
