starter moter?
so now it seems the starter motor has given up!
had to get a jump start as the booster did not have the power to kick the starter enough, after two jumps and running for a few mins it starts on its own... but im reluctant to drive it anywhere now as dont want to get stranded!
the volts at battery when running fluctuated between 13.4 and 13.7 not sure if this is quite enough but with the booster on board even if the battery is a bit low that should tide me over, but it wont help if the starter wont turn.
now i dont even know where the starter is! and im guessing they are not cheap either, can they be reconditioned? would i be able to take it off and give it an overhaul myself?
im not looking forward to having to phone my mechanic ex (dont know any other local mechanics who come out) but if i can get some done myself id feel a bit less useless and dependant!

Re: starter moter?
You may be stuck in the chicken and egg game.
Old buggered starter,
Hammered battery,
Weak alternator.
Its a common combination on old vehicles.
Someone will change one, only to have a similar situation next year.
Sometimes a complete starting and charging overhaul is the best option.
Either way its all pretty cheap stuff.

13 is low, try it with lights and fan etc on, I'm guessing it'll show under 12?
