Hijet Temp Gauge Empty Hijet Temp Gauge

Post by derekmwalshaw Mon Sep 15, 2014 11:00 am

Hi all I have had the usual Problems with overheating After many weeks and trying everything, it is now sorted. I had been through every procedure and change the usual suspects, and discovered the Problem was partially Block Rad. Any questions on overheating feel free to ask Very Happy
I got the rad from my Local Hi-jet Breakers last November for £40 and he fitted free. I had problems from a leaking Rad cap ever since. Engine has never over heated since, as long as kept topping the water level every 2 weeks.  Engine temp was always low, showing about one 5th on the dashboard gauge getting half way at max. I have now managed to solve the leak, but now the gauge on the dash is all over the place. The cooling fan thermostat kicks in when the gauge is halfway, then kicks in at 3/4. then some times just below the hot mark. It can't make up its mind. I'm hoping that others experiences can assure me that the gauge is kaput and where can I get another cheap to try.
Help would be appreciated

Get a decent thermostat.

I have had lots of problems with various thermostat manufacturers.

Avoid Circoli ones you get from euro car parts - they are crap.

Get a nipparts one.

The gauge I'm after is the one on the engine block, I've no idea what they are described as. Or where to get one?
