steering wheel removal
how the hell do they come off? i've removed the horn push, and the nut is loose, but i cant seem to get the wheel off, i've pushed, pulled, jiggled and hit it with a hammer but the steering wheel is really stuck on that column, so lost my temper and gave up for the night:oops:
any ideas?

Re: steering wheel removal
Undo the nut a few mm, get your nees under side of wheel and push up while hitting the nut with a dead blow hammer

that's what i done, soaked the shaft in WD 40, hopefully it'll penetrate over night and loosen the rust taper
Re: steering wheel removal
and if you can dont remove the big nut completely
let it on a litle bit of thread if theres room.
so you always have sort of a security that you will not bust your teeth out when it finily comes loose.
you can remove the nut when the wheel is loose enough

I find using a rocking motion works well. Pull one side of the wheel then the other, do that a few times then swap to pulling the top and bottom of the wheel and repeat.

Sorted, soaked it in WD 40 overnight, and it finally came of with a lot of pulling and bashing with a hammer!

Hi I'll second the rocking technique , tried the mallet an brute force , a quick google and " rocked" the steering wheel, grab it at 12 & 6 o'clock and then at 3 & 9 push and pull on opposite side followed by a quick pull and it popped off and yes leave the nut on a few turns Simples I was amazed how easy it was
