Fit a different exhaust??????
Apart from HJ and Woody's help in the past, I am fed up with being ripped off for spare parts for my W reg 1.3efi van!
Has anyone every tried to fit a different make of exhaust/cat, as I am not keen on spending £200 on a new cat and back box?

Re: Fit a different exhaust??????
An afternoon with a tape measure and on your van and mosey round the local scrappy might not be a bad idea to get you started. I think as long as you dont mind a few extra joints here and there you could make quite a few things fit
I'm not sure how similar your vans exhaust would be to my diesel pickup, but potential contenders i've spotted so far are peugeot 107/toyota aygo/citroen c1 backboxes are they are pennies and both the entrance and the exit are at the same side like my exhaust then it would just be a case of buying (or recycling) some bends and either weld (if you can) or buy a few joints and see where you get

Use Regis exhaust in the midlands.
Can be found here on ebay:-
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/DAIHATSU-HI-JET-1-3-VAN-REAR-EXHAUST-SILENCER-1998-2000-/120702553578?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&fits=Model%3AHijet&hash=item1c1a6ecdea
http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_odkw=hijet+exhaust+1.3&_osacat=0&_from=R40&_trksid=p2045573.m570.l1313&_nkw=hijet+exhaust+1.3+catalytic&_sacat=0
Which if you need both then £200 is a cheap full exhaust system including CAT.
That is not a rip off at all.
Lots of vehicles its more than £200 for just the CAT.
By the time you mess around cutting and welding rust together, you'd be better off £200 lighter.

The tailpipe I bought on ebay was from them. Half the price of one from Euro Car Parts. Well made and piece of piss to fit.
If I'd needed the CAT too I'd have bought from the same folk.
Thumbs up recommendation.
