help me choose a colour for the pickup!
The pickup is apparently 'VXR arden blue' whatever that is, and its pretty naff, painted by the previous owner who unfortunately lost his sight at a young age.
So i'm trying to think of a decent colour to repaint it.
The side and backflaps (or whatever they're called) have been stripped to bare metal and I think that looks pretty good, i'm tempted to just clear coat them as they are, for that rustic look. but I dont think I could get away with doing the same to the cab and bed, mainly due to the plastic panels up front that would probably need spraying in a mock metal fashion to match.
Has anybody got any other ideas?
Ive got some left over matt black from when I painted my car (havent actually finished painting it yet but thats another story). But I think matt black has been done to death a bit
I do quite like the idea of a matt colour, maybe a matt grey, or gunmetal, maybe even beige
I dont really fancy a primary colour or white, and im not keen on bright or neon like colours
What do people reckon?

satin or matt orange i've seen orange gloss but never anything else.
Re: help me choose a colour for the pickup!
Matt orangey copper type colour could be nice
I think if I did it white, I would want it to be perfect, but it would be a diy job so very unlikely to get it to as nice and crisp as I'd like.
Off white or cream on the other hand I think would look nice and retro

Matt finishes stain and mark really easily. Satin's are ok.
As with all paint jobs, the effort is in the prep work.
At least with a hijet it is easy to take the windscreen and dashboard out.
Putting paint in the gun and shooting it is the easy last bit.

Woah woah woah now HJ, who said anything about spraying!
But yes prep is the key, even a roller job can look good with decent prep and rub downs between coats
And yeah as I found out with my car, matt black vs birdshit is a lose lose situation
