I just have to repost this,

On one of the facebook groups this is about the 3rd message chain on this subject:-

Facebook print screen temporarily removed due to receiving complaint:-

Admin Email wrote:I see Matt Simpson has copied a post of mine from Facebook , he did not have my permission and did not tell me he was doing so , I find this highly offensive and ask for it to be removed , I dont mind the question of Will ford wheels fit a hijet but this post also contains other peoples names and they are being insulted on your page and have no way to comment back , I would appreciate the post removed asap Thxs

ORIGINAL QUESTION

Question as Im getting all the wrong signals from Hi-jet owners and clubs ...... Is it ok to put old Ford Wheels on a Hi jet ....yes or no .....and I dont need all the technical jargon , I want a plane simple answer or has any one on here got them on their Hijet thxs

Now am I off my tits or something?

Am I barking up the wrong tree, can we here, sort out some form of page that actually helps people make an educated choice?

Ahhh.... so please vote with the Poll, and leave any comments.....

Ford wheels do not fit and if he's a mechanic I'm glad I don't trust anyone else as numbnuts are all to common in the car trade. There is a saying that a bike mechanic can work on anything but a car mechanic can't work on sh*t.

Standard Ford centre holes are too small for the front hubs this is on top of wrong PCD.

That said anything can be made to fit and I bet he hasn't got Ford wheels but aftermarket ones that should have the 'tuner rings' fitted.

That lad is royally doing my head in... he is on a mission to prove ford wheels fit.

I've tried so hard to steer him in the right direction a couple of times now.

What more can you do??

So I've blocked him on Facebook. I waste no more of my life on him.

I can only hope and prey other people do not follow him.

Best way buddy and do you know where abouts in the world he is so none of us are troubled by him, I feel your pain as I get 'can you fit this' and then they get the hump when they are told no and say things like 'but is has the right number of holes' and you have to explain that it is a little more involved than that and they think your just on the sell.

ummm,  i dont really understand any of this!
all ford wheels aren't the same size are they?
or is it that the bolt holes are all same size/same distance apart but the outer circumference for different models are different?!
and i wouldnt expect them to fit on a hijet, but ive never measured the bolt holes!

PCD = pitch circle diameter. Basically if you put a protractor in the absolute centre of the big hole in the middle where the centre cap is and measure the distance to the centre of the wheel stud holes on a Hijet its 110 mm, on aFord its 108mm. Ford wheels WILL fit but the 2mm difference will dangerously stress the wheel studs. I used to have Fiat 132 wheels on my Marina van( Fiat are 98mm, Leyland are 96mm, ok 95.25 for the pedantic Wink ) and yes they went on. I lost a back wheel as the studs snapped.
Thee are problems with spigot centres too( the hole in the middle) older cars mount the wheels on the wheelstuds with the studs taking both horizontal and vertical forces.( known as lug-centric) Newer cars and nearly all aftermarket wheels atr hub-centric, meanibg the wheelstuds are only designed to take horizontal stresses. And as the Hijet only has spigots on one axle the fitting of wobble nuts to safely take up the 2mm difference is compromised. Hit a pothole hard and the wheel WILL move.

Just re read that, meant to say measure the distance of the circle drawn.

Sorry folks... i have recived a complaint & will lock this thread..

Somewhere in the forum is a thread about wheels PCD etc already?
we can pin that thread so it can be found.
Personally.. no i will not use whels even slightly off size after seeing sheared studs on a van i bought!
