Finally got an engine
I posted on here a few weeks ago about how I was having a problem with my Hi-jet engine (oil problems, motorway break down etc) and spent a good while looking, but finally managed to track down a complete engine. Bought from a nice guy who has a few Hi-jets he was breaking in Guernsey called Sparky who shipped it over to Southampton where some guys helped pile it into my polo. Hopefully have it fitted and running next week so I will share my success/failures with you.

Woody was my first choice but unfortunately didn't have a whole engine for sale. I am probably going to be looking for some smalls and maybe some rear seats but toying with the idea of a rock n' roll bed as this is going to be used for my film work and having somewhere to kip for free when on location sounds pretty nice (in the summer).

Happy to say that the engine is now fitted and running very happy as I finally, after a month and a half of anger and frustration managed to take it for a drive around the Sussex country side.

Strangely enough on Monday I posted a n/s rear light unit to a chap on Jersey because that chap didn't have one. Small world isn't it ??

Woody might be looking for a fuel sender, as fuel gage is not moving from 1/4 full and rear view mirror as mine has a crack through it if you have any kicking about?

Re: Finally got an engine
Fuel gauges that don't go to the bottom - they stop at 1/4 or so is normally caused by:-
The bottom of the tank is dented inwards, which beds the float tube putting a kink in it, which stops the float from moving.
If you push the bottom of the tank out from the inside, straighten out the tube, and put it back together they work again.
