Sliding door bearings Empty Sliding door bearings

Any tips on doing the middle ones?
Anyone know if the top bearing is the same as the middle ones?
Both sides have been "gritty" despite the amount of grease used!

Yeah, don't get those kits on ebay!

You can buy a tube of 10 bearings for a couple of quid.

I've not done the top ones yet, but need to on the drivers side on my van.

I'm sure I posted my method for doing this but can't find it. IIRC you remove the plastic cap at the rear of the slide at the back of the van (1 screw), slide the door fully open and ease the hinged part out of the slide. The bearing is held on by a torx-headed bolt. May help to remove the stop on the lower runner. I think top, middly and lower bearings are the same and I did post the bearing number - anyone help find my post?

I used to remove the hinge from the door, but it's a bugger to get it aligned correctly afterwards.

That means going to the garage!

My digital verniers in my office draw need new batteries.

But my Wright and Moor stuff all has recharger packs and mains adapters thank god.

Thanks guys for all the above discussions. Its not that after my massive Workshop and Garage tidy up I didnt still know where mine were---- I am still tucked up in my nice warm bed and cant be bothered to go and measure the ones I have on a shelf in the garage.

So cheers chaps I'm off back to Noddy land for another hour. Sleep

Sorry what was that ?? What am I doing up now then ? Age related connection between a small glass of cider and the smallest room in the house.

Sad innit this getting older business ???? Not that that many of you lucky YOUNG beggars out there would know.

My method is a bid different. I remove the plasic cap and the rear light. Remove the bolts from the sliding rail and while holding the door slide the rails from the door. Use a big woodblock to support the door. You can now change your bearings. Its also a nice moment to check for rust at the body beneath the the sliding rails

I pulled my finger out and fixed my driver side sliding door, and while I did it I took some pictures and did a write up....

http://www.daihatsuhijet.co.uk/repair-hijet-sliding-doors-rough-sticking-grinding-bearings-dropped/

Mine slides so effortlessly now, you just touch it and it slides nicely.

If they have been grinding on the stainless rail for a while then take some abrasives to it and make it smooth again. Mine was a bit chewed up in one place and after a bit of sanding they ran nice.
