I was misleading a little because two will be used on the jet well because I can but the other two are going on my car to replace the conventional led setup I fitted years ago that Mr MOT man struggles to see.
Re: FREE white LED tape
I wanna see the doodle of the hijet on the envelope.
Almost makes me want to ask for some, but I have no use for them!

Yeah it's great when there is dusk or daylight but too bright when it is dark. Have you got any dash dimmer switches that look a bit like jet switches or at least will fit in the dash?
Re: FREE white LED tape
It's not possible to dimm LEDs as regular bulbs we are used to.. You will need to ad some extra electronics to do it properly.

So long as you only want a small amount of adjustment they can be dimmed I have had LED's running at half voltage and they work ok but three quarters voltage works fine.
Re: FREE white LED tape
I'd fully agree, LED brightness does depend on voltage. So a couple of resistors or even just a potentiometer would offer you variable light levels.

Well HJ have you any goodies stashed?
Re: FREE white LED tape
I need to know either:-
The part number ID info so I can read the data sheet for the LED's
or
How many watts per meter they are rated at etc (and how long your sections are)
Then I can make you a little board with some components in place and some input / output leads so you can just connect up and go.

Re: FREE white LED tape
No worries I can make up a trick bit I was thinking about a push button to dim and when the lights go off it resets so it's full power again when they go back on as i have a habit of leaving the lights on when I have had them on in the day because I can't see the lights are on.
Re: FREE white LED tape
I'm sure if you run them on 6v they will be alot less sharp at night.
To make 6v from 12v you need to setup a "potential divider"
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZkC6SVrW2Wc
Basically just two resistors, to make 6v from 12v, the resistors need to be the same value.
You just need to make sure the resistors can handle the "wattage" that the LEDs will consume.

Re: FREE white LED tape
I have build a few LED brake lights and the dual light I normally handle by resisting the LED's down to around 9v assuming they are 12v this still give a good light, (6v is on but no useable light) then bypass that resistor to get full power. I know that it isn't resisting voltage but it's the easiest way to explain as I have to look at the equation and get the calculator out.
Re: FREE white LED tape
Hi,
I'm interested in some. Have you any left? If not where did you find it from?
Cheers,
Will
