Tips on getting exhaust off hangers
So i've been looking at how to get my exhaust back section off and apart from the fact that the bolts clamping it to the cat section are impervious lumps of rust it looks a bit tricky to get all those rubber hangers detached.
I can't seem to slide them off either the exhaust mounts or the mounts welded to the van. Any tips on what to do with these?
Thanks
Stephen

Have you tried washing up liquid? Or is there actually a physical obstacle?

I'll try washing up liquid as they are very stiff
I think the metal hangers bend up a bit at the ends too but if I get them moving they'll prob slide off.
Thanks

If the exhaust is scrap you could hacksaw the pin near the rubber, would make it easier to slide the rubber off then.

It is scrap so even if a bit of lube is not enough I can always get out my hacksaw, or maybe my jigsaw if thats not too dangerous used upside down under a car.
I may well have to saw off the connecting bolts anyway if they won't free up.

Sod trying to cut the hangers while it all moves with every push of the hacksaw etc. Just get the lubed up, some decent pry bar etc and slip them off.
Once you get it uncrusted with a bit of lube, they'll slacken up and let you slip though - although you need to be forceful at times.

If you get a pair of mole grips on the tabs at the end and flattern them out a bit then with a small screw driver and the WD40 squirt a bit over the pin and the blade and slide through and down the gap you make use the pipe to get the wd well in then screw driver out rock the rubbers back and forth and then they will let go and slide off sometimes a jack under the exhaust to take the weight off helps also stops you dropping it on yourself when it comes free.
