Door check strap

As per title need a check strap for me drivers door
Mines cracked and holds sod all.

Can you not make one from an old belt or a bit of leather?

I like to keep some things original on the jet. Jon
I understand keeping it original but better having a secure door until you source the original part. You would swear some if the old one gave way and the door got damaged.

Is it a metal strap? If so take it out and see whats not working by comparing to the other side they arn't complex I have played with the ones in my escort so they spring open a fraction when the electric release is triggered.
