http://www.japarts.co.uk/shop/index.php?sh=sub_search Jap Parts i have found have a good assortment of parts, prices are not bad at all.
http://www.camskill.co.uk/products.php?plid=m27b0s1671p0 Hijets need to have Commercial tyres fitted. Camskill i have found to be the cheapest.

Where can i find Hijet Parts?
I only live a little way up from WoMoCo and as the only Daihatsu dealer I can find in the south I'll use if I have to but I worked at the bottom of the hill to them at another dealer and they were a pain and I now work with one of their ex employees who - well we wont go there but on the other hand I did call Ken and did get a cross ref with no probs.

Talking of spare parts does anyone have a spare door pin the black plastic bit or does anyone know if anything else fits as our Van is short of one on the sliding door at the mo got a bit of choccy block leccy connector wedged on and apart from looking shit its sharp aswell. But touch wood it ran well today around town after a new set of plugs fingers crossed we'll be able to use it

Before I forget I priced a pressure cap at Womoco the other day they have them in stock but they are £26ish for the CB42 engine type with the return valve I'm going to use a bit of highly jetted's idea and make a branch to the top pipe over the engine and fit a pressurised expantion bottle which will incorperate the bleed off the heater matrix got some of the bits already just got a few more bits to source and will post a how to if it works fingers crossed.

Re: Where can i find Hijet Parts?
The last time I needed tyres, earlier this year, my local kwikfit in Portslade gave the best quote and fitted Kumho commercial tyres on my van.
I'd never tried these but a Merc sales manager I know confirmed them as sound so I went ahead.
Not only are they in a different league to the Westlakes I had fitted by National last time but they beat the original Pirellis into a cocked hat, too.
It's worth giving kwikfit a visit with an open mind. The one I use in Portslade seems to be staffed by knowedgeable, helpful blokes whereas the one a few miles further West is staffed by ignorant neanderthals fresh from the bail hostel.

Re: Where can i find Hijet Parts?
You've added a fair bit to your site since I last looked, Emma. Like the lists of parts for sale. Might you be interested in my 'complete' non-runner when I've finished taking off bits I need for my other 2 vans?

Hi, I ended up combining my blog and website which is why there's more to look at on there.
As for your van, it very much depends on what's left, where you are and what you want for it.
Give me or Jerry a ring when you're done with it and we'll see what's what.
Cheers Emma

Re: Where can i find Hijet Parts?
You'd get best part of £200 for it if you weighed it in for scrap.
If you cut the catalytic converter off if first too, you could weigh that in for another £40 too. And another £8 for the battery.

Re: Where can i find Hijet Parts?
£8 for a battery? Really? Oh, I'm going to love this conversation:
Me: Darling, do you remember insisting I took the 6 old car batteries I had in the garage to the tip?
Wife: Yes, you said you were keeping them in case they were useful, like all the other junk.
Me: Well they're worth £8 each now - in all thats 4 bottles of your favourite scotch!
Wife: <Silence> (hopefully followed by an apology)
Think I'd keep the cat........just in case

We scrap Hijet bodies frequently, £30 + add the weight of whatever you leave on you'll be lucky to get £100.HighlyJetted wrote:You'd get best part of £200 for it if you weighed it in for scrap.

But that is by the by. I need to source a decent 1300 fuel tank, is that something that will be left over?
Re: Where can i find Hijet Parts?
Well your getting skanked because car up here is about £200 per ton. And if you peel them back to no glass or plastic they go into ferrous metal which is somewhat better but i'm sure you'll do some reasearch as it seems breaking cars is your game. Especially if it turns out that you have thousands of pounds worth of scrap lying around which could buy a fair amount of plonk Let alone all the nice price catalytic converters, copper radiators, and batteries. Ke-ching!
A hijet is about 900kg as you know.
If your dealing in loads of car scrap ring around as some places are further up the scrap food chain.
The place I go to cubes metal into very big stock piles which go back to be reprocessed.
This was what I did to a civic a few months back as it was well worth taking it for scrap. Fair amount of graft to fit it into a little trailer.

Re: Where can i find Hijet Parts?
By the way, how do you guys deal with the ELV directive?
Was it hard to get your site signed off?

Scrap ......................................
Might be an idea to get your little trailor down here and pick up some bargains.
For light iron we get 140 per kilo, an Hijet once it's stripped weighs approx 220 kilos.
We get between £28 - £33 per body.
Occasionally we'll put a dif in and get a bit more.

We don't, we leave it to the scrap yard.HighlyJetted wrote:By the way, how do you guys deal with the ELV directive?

All we have to have is an environmental license.
It's very easy to get as long as you're not big time with a lot of oil that might cause pollution, which we are not.
We have a small yard and a household size garage.
Re: Where can i find Hijet Parts?
I'd like to rent a unit to deal in used parts but I'm worried about the headaches of bureaucracy when it comes to stripping cars down. I have a bit of a stock system i'm working on, does stuff like automate ebay listings, connect to a online shop database, generate packing lists and labels, uses bar code labels for stock and locations, image management for selling, diamentions, weights. Thought i'd crack that before getting in a typical car breaking mess again! Its getting all the data entry forms really quick to use so you can manage to describe and quantify all 200-300 items that come off a car.
Parts.......................
Talking to the wrong person here I'm afraid. We just break them and find the bits people want when they ask. The only computering bit is the web site. Even that took a bit of an effort, I only taught myself to use a computer a few years ago. You have to remember I'm an antique!
Love it - helpful!!!

Re: Where can i find Hijet Parts?
Hi all,
I have found that OutletRicambi is pretty useful for new OEM bits.
I have so far had to order D/S rear tailight, and after losing the indicator lens thinking it snapped back when changing the front wing over.
It subsequently fell off.
