Long distance kayak roof haulage

Hi I've found this forum really helpful so far.
I'm looking at getting myself a 2000 1.3L 5 speed Manuel Hijet low roof, that's been converted into a camper. With one of my uses to use it to carry my kayak on the roof. How do they handle long distances as I plan on taking it on trips across Europe. And if anyone here had any experience with it.
