Rebuild Struts
I have a '96 Daihatsu Hijet Van (S100)
I have noticed (via research and reading others comments) that finding fully assembled struts/ shocks for this particular microvan is almost impossible. What I would like to know is if anyone on this forum has bothered to 'rebuild' the struts instead??
Potential DIY:
-Keep existing strut housing/ mounts
-Replace strut cartridges with current/new shocks
-Replace old springs with current/new coil springs
The end goal is to get a better/ smoother ride (longevity) from this rebuild.
This might be wishful thinking...Let me know if I would have any unforeseen issues/speed bumps with this approach.
Cheers!

Re: Rebuild Struts
You'll probably be able to use some Gas inserts to go inside your housings after you slice the top off with a grinder. You'd have to have a measure of the dimensions of the strut - e.g. max extension, minimum, diameter, etc etc..... you'll find something.
