1.0 to 1.6 conversion
Just come across this on Gumtree CLICK HERE and wondered if anyon3 knew anything of it. Thought the only real way to go to a 1.6 was from a 1.3.

Think the question just been answered as the advert has just disappeared from Gumtree! (DVLA does confirm it’s listed as a 1.6)

Re: 1.0 to 1.6 conversion
Converting a 993cc body to fit a 1.3 or 1.6 is in my book a total non-starter. First of all, Y
you will need a COMPLETE 1300 Van to rob for all the parts you will need. If you prefer the looks of the 993cc Van then change the front end to look like a 1300. It is still a lot of work even doing that.
The mounting points for the the gearbox cradle are in the wrong positions for a starter. The whole wiring loom has to be totally changed for a 1300 loom, taking out the dashboard and heater, including speedo just to get the loom in place.
Exhaust system brackets have to be moved to fit the 1300 system. Fuel Tank Sender Unit. All of the water pipes, radiator and fan, Rad mounting brackets, so many other little alterations, like lots of water pipe body brackets, there are so many differences - then on top of that if you go the 1600 route you have all of those engine mods to do.
Obviously if you are going the 1600 route with a 1300 you will still need to do all same engine mods. Really worth the extra 30bhp and increased torque of the 1600 engine IN A 1300. Not for a 993cc though in my opinion.
I have pulled hundreds of Hi-Jets apart and you get to learn all the minor and major differences and difficulties.
Honesty I really can't see the point of causing yourself all that work and heartache. If you want the 993cc looks using the 1300 you can put your old number plate on your later 1300 so it will seem like a genuine 993cc or indeed your original van - provided it is the same colour or you are doing full paint job.

CLICK ME Looks like it is back.
Yes, that’s what I thought Woodie, but seems strange it’s listed on DVLA as a 1600.

Well that is certainly a pretty looking Devon. Someone has certainly made it tidy Camper with a lot of work to fit a 1600 engine in. But in this case it was certainly well worth the hard work. I would be scared to drive it like I do my MPV.

Hhmmm. You left out the bit where you forgot to put the 1600 engine in it.
If anyone else wants to put a 1600 lump in a Hi-Jet - I have got 5 spare 1600 engines. Well - most of you know me by now - I never do anything by halves.
