Hello form Brighton
Hello everyone.
New here, but I've had my Hijet a while.
She's an '03 1.3EFI panel van. A previous owner installed an LPG system on it, but the guy before me removed the LPG tank for whatever reason.
It's been off the road since November after a pretty big mot failure, but it's close to being roadworthy again. Been doing the work myself bit by bit.
Currently getting about in a BMW 316ti, it's alright, but Japanese steel is where my hart is.
Future plans are mostly just fixing bits and bobs here and there and getting on top of the rust before it's too late, I live right next to the sea so plenty of salt about.
Might install a tablet into the dash for music.
Would love to do an engine swap one day, (maybe a bike engine), and a few other major mods but at this point they are just pipe dreams.
Training to be a welder so I'm sure that'll come in handy at some point.
Glad I found this site. Nice little community you've got going here.

Slumming it in a BMW! Welcome, it is a supportive community here but that requires people to contribute so now you are here...dont go away! Post up update etc and when you can pics, helps others...and save writing.
Training as a welder is great for a hijet in seaside conditions.
Thought about changing the engine for a 1.6 instead? Save messing about trying to sort a reverse gear and rear wheel gearing. Would love to do it myself if I had time and space.

Re: Hello form Brighton
Thanks, I will contribute whenever I can
I had considered a 1.6 from an MX-5, also a Subaru EJ15.
But I've done zero research into wether either would fit as of yet.
My mate has a turbocharged 1.6 MX-5 lump up for sale, but 270BHP in a Hijet might be a little silly.
I currently have no space either. Where I live it's £150 a year to park on the street and you can only have one vehicle so the permit is on the BMW.
Luckily I managed to sweet talk my employer to let me keep the Hijet in there carpark for a bit.
Council still slapped an abandoned vehicle notice on it and tried to take it away though.
Soon backed off when I reminded them it's on privet property.
Looking to get a place with a garage next summer though, then the fun can start

Re: Hello form Brighton
Welcome Sam, I'm in Sunny Eastbourne where the on-street parking is a lot cheaper!
