.....can someone please help. I'm looking for an O2 sensor for my little van. I ordered one from Germany, but it doesn't fit, so will have to go back. So far the only other quotes I've had are in excess of £150 and not on the affordable scale. Does anyone know if any of the universal sensors will fit and if so, which? It's a 1.3 petrol with LPG conversion.....and that's a whole other story.

Do you mean the thread size is wrong as in "doesn't fit"?

Is he totally brainless?? Most Lamda sensors come without a plug. You merely cut the wires and join them with crimp bullet connectors. Has he also realised that there are TWO Lamda Sensors, one on the exhaust manifold and one on the Silencer just behind the Cat.

....hi, yes, I thought that too. I did suggest he put the old plug on the new sensor, but he said there's no guaruntee it would work? And yes, he did suggest that I get two sensors, but it's only one that's showing up as faulty on the diagnostic thing

Seems to me that he has got the hump with you because you have supplied the part thereby introducing a third party into the equation.
I loved it when customers supplied their own new parts. If there was a problem with it the customer had to pay me to remove and replace it and I didn't have the aggravation of dealing with the supplier which cost me time and money.

If he can't do a simple job like that then he should be cleaning lavatories or something worthwhile of his incompetent lack of skills. What's his name?? Definitely not Jean- Michel Jarre?? I think not. He's certainly no OXYGENE-ius is he. If he can't sort that, find another local garage that can.

You are so right=Geordie. It just beggars belief that some Trained Mechanics cannot join 4 wires together. But as you say they aren't Mechanics - - Just a fitter of parts.

My six year old Grandson has a Raspberry Pi. Computer and the gadgets he has working off that amazes me. He learned how to use his mobile phone as a TV remote when he was 3. He would have no problem with sorting out Mr (P)OXEGENE the Hopeless Twitter. Must be a mate of Donald Trump.

To the best of my knowledge they are both the same. Overall dimensions, Thread size, connector plug, 4 wires, all the same Merlyn.

Tell you what. You buy the other Oxygen Sensor from me and I will wire it with the original Daihatsu plug and then your idiot Garage can use it as a pattern for the other one he got from you.

Hi there....sorry, I've been quite ill and out of action. Needless to say the issue is ongoing! Anyway, the wiring is as follows: old sensor = 2 black, 1 blue, 1 white. New sensor = 2 grey, 1 black, 1 white. Instinct tells me that the following is the most likely to work: 2 grey to 2 black, black to blue, white to white.....is this correct? I imagine that the only thing that could be wrong is the black to blue and white to white, in which case it would show up on a diagnostic scan and if so, swap these two over. This appears to be ridiculously simple, but then again, what do I know? I'm just a wummin who upsets car mechanics and buys them shortbread by way of appology! He'll not even get a custard cream for this!

I loathe this site's inability to save posts in progress. I have just written an in depth reply and suddenly - its gone.  It really makes me feel like swearing, something I don't do on Public Forums. At home in my garage if I hurt myself I have been known to utter a few expletives.

But anyway, starting all over again I will be brief- has your Garage worked out which wire goes where??  If he hasn't, please let me know at thehijetmaniow@gmail.com and I will dig out a Lamda Sensor and sort out the "which  wires to where" syndrome for you.

YET AGAIN!!! I loathe this Site's inability to save Posts in progress. This is the THIRD attempt. This is a new phone and it is so sensitive and rapid and with my bear traps for hands and Pork Sausages for fingers - it's not a good combination. I usually use my Tablet, but it is out in the garage for streaming Music to my Bluetooth Speakers out there.

Basically has your Garage been able to sort out The Mastermind Challenge? If not can you let me know on here or at my email address :

Hi there Woody. I replied to your email, but not heard back from you. Anyway, here is a copy of my message:
No, the guy at the garage has not been in touch, so I presume he's not sorted it. As I said, the wire colours on the old sensor are 2 black, 1 blue and 1 white. The new sensor wires are 2 grey, 1 black, 1 white.

Sorry I've not replied before this, but I've been quite ill these past few weeks....first time I've ever lost weight over the festive holidays! I hope you had a grand time yourself and any help you can offer would be much appreciated.

Kind regards
Merlyn
