Small or big wheels? Empty Small or big wheels?

Post by Ben Lee Thu Sep 21, 2017 6:38 pm

Hey all,

I'me not sure what I like best... Keeping the (or other) small 12inch wheels, to keep it small and cute.

Or chosing a bigger size wheel to toughen the little van up.

Found both on the internet and actually like both. (Maybe just get both, to be able to change.)

And a question... What size rims is the max for our little van? 15, 16, 17 or is 14 more than enough.

Thanks,

Ben.

None, you may find 13” is the biggest without modding, it’s not as much filling the wheel arch in as much as problem turning the wheels to steer. Bigger wheels will probably foul the bodywork without modding it.

Thx good to know... I'me searching for allroad tyres so I better stick to the 12 inches... Problem solved... and the stock rims.

Thx

My 185/60/13's on two of my Hi-Jets. 185/60/12's Maxmiler Commercial Tyres. You would need some pretty wide 12" rims for these.

normaly its a miracle to find  wheels for your hijet/porter
could you post the links of the wheels you found?

i had 13 inch on my hijet
Small or big wheels? 912

and these were my standard wheels that i painted matt black inside with a silver edge
looked pretty good to

Small or big wheels? Dsc00016

i have seen 14 and 15 inch fitted to on a hijet but it all depends on the sizes of the wheel
the width/the offset/what tyre/ etc etc so bigger wheels do fit but it all depends on the details Smile
a while back these were for sale.. they look like 15/16 inch or something like that..

Hmm... Learning the hard way that the forum doesn't take emoticons...

This was a double post, I didn't seem to be able to delete...

Sorry about that...

Hey Scotia,

Didn't find any wheels yet (not worth the money or to little a change from stock)

I'me going to spray the stock rims to black and white. Like this...

Kind of like you did with the stock wheels.

When the van stays on the road without braking down, and the rust (non problematic) underneath is handled, I might look out for other rims like yours on the Carry... Really like what you did with them.

Now I'me going to test on the spare wheel... And see from there...

Btw Scotia, I really enjoyed you threath... had a lot of "I want that" in it... Accept... I want to lift it rather than lowering...

I want to go for a mild off-road look... where that's going to take me I don't know yet.

thanx
looking for wheels sucks for the hijet/porter
4x110 is verry difficult to get.
my carry has 4x114,3 and a lot of older japanese cars also have that pcd so wheels are easy to get.

I think that when the spray paint works out, i'me going to look for some tyres allroad, with a nice heavy profile and white lettering (preferably, otherwise I will do them myself).

But even that isn't that easy to find for the small, narrow 12 inch stock wheels... All quad wheels seem to be to wide...

If someone can point me in the right direction brandwise... I would be grateful.

Grz,
Ben.

i would stay away from quad wheels.
i dont think they are made for regular car use.
they cant handle the weight or speed i think

there is a nice set of alloys on marktplaats
i dont know the offset or centrehole dimensions but i think they are 4x110 and 12 inch 5,5J

Didn't think of that, but you're right... About the quad wheels.

Like the alloys... And neerby just cross the border...I live in Oud-Turnhout near the Dutch border..

dont think to long about the wheels.
its like the third set 4x110 ive seen this year and they are not that expensive.
but be shure that the offset and centrehole is going to work.

Thx Scotia for browsing around... Think I'me gonna hold on for a while...

First I'me gonna spray the stock ones, do some work underneath the car and try to renovate the inside. Polish the outside...

PP is in the workshop now to change some gaskets? (pakkingen), rubbers to counter the oil leak and get a full service and look around. Main problem here is getting hold of everything.

And if it keeps running as it does now... I will put some cash in for other cosmetics. Think I will buy a bullbar fist...
