Does anyone know where I can source Front wheel Cylinders for a 1983 Daihatsu Hijet S70 850 pickup?

I looked in my Lockheed catalogue (next time you are in a factors, ask if they have any old catalogues under the counter ... brakes, exhausts, electrics, etc)

Calipers are Pt.No.47720-87506. Drum wheel cylinders are 47540-87507. I did not bother checking both LH and RH, as Lockheed do not have an alternative part number for anything Hijet.

Try phoning Past Parts 01284 750729, ask if they can re-sleeve your cylinders, after which, they will last for ever. Tell us what they say, and how much.

OT ... I can buy new wheel cylinders for my 1959 Land Rover for about £15. New brake drums are about the same. Alternatively, I can spent about £700, and convert it to disc brakes. Has anybody studied what would be needed to fit brakes from a different marque to a Hijet? I have never seen a Hijet with a wheel off, so have no idea what is lurking under there.

I have suggested fitting Disc Brake Struts from the 993cc or 1300 but having never owned an 850 I don't know how the McPherson Struts compare.
I asked whoever it was that PM'd me to send me some photos of the struts - - but they never bothered. So he can't be that bothered about doing the job.
