cold start problems

Hi Guys
I bought a 1200cc diesel Hijet pick up a few months ago, No starting problems at all. It was leaking fuel at the inlet to the fuel rack just before it goes into the engine. I tighten the two rubber hoses up with a couple of hose clamp and the leak was fixt. But then the truck would not start easy in the morning when it is cold. It does start eventually with a big smoke cloud from the exhaust after turning the engine over for about 15 times. One started and run for a few minutes it then starts on the first turn of the engine. The glow plugs is good, the timing and injectors is new. The Diesel specialist don’t have a clue where to look next for the problem. Any Ideas what the problem could be. Much appreciate any advice.
