Replacement Aerial
Morning all,
Tony was kind enough to send me a replacement aerial as some turd guff snapped mine off.
Can anyone shed some light as to how to replace it please. I can't actually see where it runs from the door frame. Do I need to remove my dash panel?

Re: Replacement Aerial
OMG who would have thought that replacing a fecking aerial would be such a chore. My aerial cable seems to have taken a trip round my whole dash. I thought I was gonna get away with just removing the aerial on the outside, running the cable to the back of my stero and voila but NO it aint that simple. I have a replacement aerial and honestly thought it was a case of just connecting the outcome to the cable but the cable is fitted to a plastic part of the aerial. Has anyone replaced their aerial, if so can you tell me how you did it please.

Re: Replacement Aerial
I haven't done it yet on a Hijet, but usually I:
1. Remove aerial plug from back of radio and tie a piece of string securely round the cable so the plug prevents the string falling off.
2. Undo the aerial fixings and gently pull cable through hole in bodywork. (Some jiggling under the dash may be required to enable cable to work round other leads, etc - another pair of hands/eyes comes in useful)
3. Remove string from old aerial and fix to new.
4. Guide cable into vehicle from outside using string to pull through.
5. Fix aerial and plug in.

Re: Replacement Aerial
I should have stipulated that the string should be at least a couple of feet longer than the (new) aerial lead - any less and you stand a chance of losing it!

Re: Replacement Aerial
What about if it's tied to other cables or clips with tie wraps?

Re: Replacement Aerial
Then you'd have to undo the ties first. Mine is just free, and I'm fairly sure it's the original aerial.

Re: Replacement Aerial
I doubt it really matters how the aerial lead is routed
As long as its not going to cause problems with the controls, route it how you can.
The string idea does work though

Re: Replacement Aerial
Just attempted to put my new aerial on. Old one, no probs to get off. Attached new one to string and have given up. Just can't get the flipping thing through at all. My hands are in bits!!
