Welcome, Penny Nikky. I picked up an 18k 08 Porter this year and have 3 older Hijets. Plenty of help & advice available on here.

Welcome Nikki. A 2007 plate with 19,000 miles on the clock sounds like every Forum Members dream.
Vans with that kind of Pedigree don't come along to often.
Well done on finding that one.

Trying to post some photos but it's bit of a nightmare. I'm on a tablet though so that is probably the problem. I get my work laptop back tomorrow so will try again then

I thought there was a 7 day wait after joining before one can post pictures.
Unlike me and a few others who can't get the hang of the stupid system anyway on a laptop never mind my Nexus 7 Tablet.

I will give it a go tomorrow on the laptop as I know I can't post photos onto Gumtree from my tablet. If they wont post i shall try again in a weeks time.
Hey there Waz !! The micro vans seem to multiplying round Maidstone. There is a guy with a piuaggio porter called Bertie ( the van is called bertie) who does a sandwich round around Larkfied, it's one with the vw front, i had a chat with them a few weeks back about their van. I passed him again this morning in new hythe lane then 3 cars behind him was a diahatsu hijet coffee van. See the local council use them too :-) or is it just i now notice them more ??

Re: Hi ! Piaggio porter owner here
Jumping to wrong conclusions there Matt.
Its true that as you get older you get wiser -- but not so sure in my case. But I have certainly got craftier with old age.
I could write a book that would make Tolstoy's Door Stop look like a thin comic with all the tricks I have got up to and all the stunts I have pulled ( steady Logi - no rude interpretation there ) in my time
Actually WAZ very kindly told me of an easier way of posting pictures but I just haven't had the time to try it.
Anyway you will all be moaning coz I have thousands of Hi-Jet piccies to post. Hmmmmm !! Thinking about that though sound like fun to my sadistic sense of humour.

Re: Hi ! Piaggio porter owner here
Welcome Nikky - I'm a newbie too, but already bowled over by the willingness to share advice.
While on holiday had a good look at a Piaggio Porter. When my current Hijet dies I suspect it will be a Porter that replaces it.
Does anyone know if there is a definitive list anywhere of what components are common / different?

There is no list.
But in as many words, they are the same tin box, with the same engine, rolling stock, engine management and bodywork.
Slight variations with trim and interior, that's about it.
There is a post by Dino, he has both and knows more exact details.

Re: Hi ! Piaggio porter owner here
Well, Penelope Piaggio Porter was serviced today my mechanic was not hugely impressed beinbg requested to work on such a teeny van that wouldn't fit on his ramps. All good news though, he gave it a good look over too & said all wheel joints etc are basically new along with fan belt & some other stuff. I'm pretty happy seems like a got quite a bargain when i found our Penny

Re: Hi ! Piaggio porter owner here
Only thing he found wrong with her was the hinge on the bottom of the drivers door is broken & there is no stay to stop the door flying open too far ( i knew that but hadn't realised the hinge had broken). Best get on with ebaying now
