The insurance jungle!
I really fancy a Hi-jet or the like to hump around my radio controlled model aeroplanes - They look to be the ideal solution.
Plenty for sale - reasonable prices etc etc.
Then the problem, insurance, best quote I could manage nearly £400........ WHAT!
I have a 160mph motor cycle, £81/year..... a MX5 sports car £130/year...... a little Citroen 'bubble' same £130. I have driven vans on and off for the firm I used to work for, over a 35 year period....... Just what are the insurance companies on??
Is the Hi-Jet a particularly dangerous vehicle? Am I likely to be killing or maiming my fellow road users because its such a monster??
By the way - I'm retired age 71 been driving/riding since '63 with just 3 points on me 'ticket to ride' ... HELP!

Welcome, seems a bit dear, though are you using all your no claims on the other cars?

Re: The insurance jungle!
I used a company called Gladiater. My existing company wouldn't insure the van......pretty annoying. I went on one of the comparison sites ( think it was confused.com) Gladiater came in at £250, opted to go with them, they then rang me & done it for £213 over the phone
Ps.......I've had 2 mx5s & they are sooooooo much fun. Just not practical for my work now, so my little van it is for practicality & fun

That's not bad for a late one - mine average out just under £250 each with full business use.

Mine is with business use too. Though the goods I carry they class as personal rather than business as they said they are mine until a customer pays for them....which makes sense. My last car was a peugeot 207 on an '07 plate that my partner has now claimed & the van came in slightly cheaper than that. Surprised though that my road tax doesn't look so good. £123 for 6 months, I checked it on the dvla site as they seem to vary for some reason but it says it is correct for this vehicle, unless something was logged wrong when it was first registered. Was hoping as it only has a 1300 engine compared to the peugeots 1400 it would have been cheaper. The peugeot was about £93 for 6 months so quite a difference
