I would imagine HJ (mk2) that unless you find someone breaking a Hi-Jet
privately and they don't know what Hi-Jet spares are worth then you are in my opinion rather unlikely to find a headlights under what Highly Jetted and I charge for headlights.
Usually breakers charge 25 - 50% of the new price of a part and as Headlights are nearly £500 each new then we should be charging £125 minimum for one.
£50 for headlights considering the rarity value of them is very reasonable.
Gear selector cables are another hellish price. Jim in the garage next to mine ordered two Vauxhall cables and they wanted £160 and he looked on EBay and got them for £120. Dread to think what Daihatsu ones are!!
Time to start reviewing my prices I think especially as secondhand Hi-Jets are getting dearer and harder to find.

I scoured E-bay and the likes for a propshaft for my Hi-Jet as unfortunately I hadn't spotted it or heard it on the test drive. (should of joined a forum doh!)
The prices for some bits take the p*ss.
I phoned around breakers yards near & far but not a sausage. but eventually stumbled across a 02' hi-jet hidden away (Owner of the breakers had forgotten about it) when i was looking for parts for my other cars, and got a prop shaft for £30!
I got loads of other refinements (if that's what you call them) while i was at it, for a good price. So I reckon it's always worth a trudge around a scrapyard to see what you can find.

Re: 2001 drivers side headlight
If you ever need cables, there are companies up and down the UK which make new cables for control systems and industry etc. One near me called cabletec, and you walk in with your buggered cable, they measure it and inspect the ends, then they make you something which suits the purpose and normally charge about £30 to £40.
There is another company that make hydraulic hoses, and they will knock you up some power steering hoses for cars, but sometimes they don't stock the correct fittings as they are specialist parts to the manufacturer. But if you carefully cut the ends off and take them in they make me hoses up for a tiny fraction of the dealerships charge.

Thanks for that tip Matt. As Darklord so rightly says some yards or specialist breakers do take the mick.

When I got the m/cyl for the last van the van in the breakers had 2 minty headlamps. Hadn't had the van for long so didn't know how much they resembled rocking horse teeth
