I require a wiring loom if you (or anyone else) has one. Needs to be fully marked up with which wires go where etc.

Hi, we can do that, Tony says it wouldn't take him long to mark it for you as it's pretty straight forward. Email Tony on agpeck@hotmail.com for phone number and details. Cheers Emma Smile

p.s

please don't make the mistake that I did and mark it up with a biro and masking tape as biro ink fades from masking tape!! I found out too late!! lol

mostly 1000cc, some 1300cc Empty Head lights and things.

Post by emmabskin Mon Sep 26, 2011 1:05 pm

Hi, all we have at present are a couple of grotty new type headlights, I think. I'll check with Jerry just in case.
It was a bit odd looking at this topic as the last thing I wrote here was "he'll be back". I wish.
Anyway we've still got parts for sale and and a couple of good vans, they're both 1300cc. One is white on a '52 plate and the other is blue. It's on a 'P' plate, I think, but it's a great van. We're using it until it sells and it gives us no trouble. We've been on a trip up to Kent aswell as driving around town. We want £800 for the blue one and around £1400 for the white one. They're both panel vans.

mostly 1000cc, some 1300cc Empty online parts

Post by stevelav Mon Sep 26, 2011 4:00 pm

I have managed to source a replacement headlamp and indicator for £50 inc p&p from a decent sounding scrapper called mega 24 breakers, but I am amazed at how awful it is sourcing parts online. Most companies seem to be out to rip you off in one way or another, they try and get you to phone high cost numbers, send expensive texts and when you ring them the only thing they seem interested in is getting your credit / debit card details. I did not trust them at all, the worst I think is jap parts in birmingham, very dodgy I would not believe a word they say, I think that they say anything just to get you to given them your card number.

In the end the best method i found was trudging through ebay looking for contact details of anyone selling Hijet bits and phoning them. They all seemed to me like normal honest people. Its strange how looking for car parts online seems more risky than looking at porn!

What a strange world we live in.

That's the problem with them the silver does tend to come off. And as I'm not the sort of person to rip you off I won't try and sell it to you.
If you do need any other parts you could try me again or there is a guy in Ireland who seems to be alright his address is www.hijetparts.co.uk where mine is www.usedhijetparts.co.uk. Hopefully between the two of us you should be able to get what you need without getting ripped off.
Cheers Emma cheers

Alot of headlights can be brought back to life if you put them in an oven on a low setting to melt the glue that bonds the lense onto reflector unit, then peel off the old silver stuff and sand it to make a nice key'd surface. Then paint it up with this stuff:-

http://www.cbsonline.co.uk/product/Chrome_Paint_Aerosol_PNCHR

That is if you can have the time and patients to do it.

And another not so secret secret top tip:- plastic head light lenses that go cloudy can be polished back up using tooth paste. Colage minty fresh Laughing

Thats interesting about opening up the headlight and re silvering it, I have tried to open one up but I smashed the lense when trying to open it. So I need to warm it in the oven then it will open up.

- any tips on warming it in the oven because knowing my luck I'll end up melting it and ruining another costly headlight!

Thanks Stephen

I go for about 70-80 degrees C for about 10 to 20 minutes depending on how the glue's feeling.

Also I put the lamp in the oven while its off, and warm it up with the light in. Always been a bit scared of the temperature change cracking the glass.

I used an old baking tray covered in tin foil, and I had the lense pointing down.

The plastic on the civic headlights I've done doesn't melt at those temps, never done a hijet one - so good luck, and let us know how it goes Laughing

Maybe do a little test, by leaving something metal in the oven at 80 degree's, and put it on the plastic. I wouldn't have thought you'd have a problem though.

For reference:- PVC melts at about 80 degs C, PP at about 170 degs C, ABS is about 105 deg C, PE 110 degs C

Not sure what they are made out of but it might be stamped on it somewhere, either way it has to withstand the halogen bulb on main beam which are pretty hot.
