Nice video! That's really helpful, I'm sure I can do that.

But WTF is Tallow?

It's actually a really good informative video, and your talk is nice, although fackin saven mayte, you can't help that!!

Thank you so much for the thought, learnt something new, a classic technique.

Rename your video on youtube, set the title to something like:- "Lead loading filling bodywork information tutorial demonstration technique guide with tallow"

Then in the description put some more bullshit in like "This is my little demonstration video of how to use flux, tinning, lead filling, tallow smoothing and file off lead loading for bodywork, fuel tanks and other metalwork, please excuse my rancid southern accent, one day the northerners will take over to make England a much better chips and gravy place - please visit http://www.daihatsuhjijet.co.uk" Wink Laughing

You watch how many hits that baby gets over the next year.

Tallow is as follows http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tallow mainly mutton fat is what I know it as.

So its a type of fat derived smeg! Lovely!

Guess it stops contamination from the wood, non stick properties, while not melting into the lead.

You can use a metal pusher but you get the lead stuck to it because the tallow melts off where as the wood absorbs it a bit and wood is fairly inert to warmth think wooden spoons and handles in the kitchen, lead filling was a common practice in car production in the 60's but died back to repairs in the 70's and replaced with plastic in the 90's if it was still a main line thing I recon it would have loads of clever stuff to use, I don't see why you couldn't use a very high temp plastic or better still a ceramic or teflon but it is a fairly cheap way of doing the job I like the fact that you can get it on the job and start reshaping straight away.

"This is my little demonstration video of how to use lead, flux and tallow to tin and load lead for bodywork, fuel tanks and other metalwork, please visit http://www.daihatsuhjijet.co.uk it will make my mate very happy."
