Will parts from other Daihatsus fit my Hijet 1000?

I bought a Daihatsu Hijet 1000 1984 yesterday and i need new brakes for it. It seems really hard to find spare parts for it so i thought maybe brakes from another Daihatsu model would fit. Any idea which model if any and maybe other parts that are interchangable between models?

Possibly, yes. Is yours a S85 or earlier model? Online parts suppliers (don't know which you have in Sweden) often say if a particular part fits other models - there are several sellers on Ebay, but finding a co-operative motor factor near you would be a great help.

Deffo try a friendly motor factor, they can cross reference the aftermarket part numbers to check

I managed to find out that i have to look for parts for Daihatsu Sparcar to get the right ones for my car. I'm a bit confused.

In the car reigistry info it says "Daihatsu 1000 Kombi" and my chassis number starts with S7 (i don't have the whole one written down at the moment).

Is it a Sparcar or a Hijet?

Thats a well tidy wee van for its age, mines 15 years younger and doesnt look as good!
Tbh ive never heard of a Sparcar but Googling it brings up pics of old Hijets? Maybe a model name for another market, sometimes they change them for various reasons
( My fave is tbe Ford Pinto, seemingly pinto is a slang term for a little knob in South America....)

Thank you! Yea i was surprised it was in such good condition. Barely any rust and all electronics works. Just one tiny problem, i can't lock the doors with the keys i got with it.
It hasn't passed the MOT in about 8 years but i'm working on it as we speak. Welding a new exhaust and fixing uneven braking in the back. Then it should be good to go.

I just thought of a really stupid movie reference; "THIS IS SPARCAR". Maybe i should print out a large sticker with the text and the dude from the movie

Well if you want to know if something is the same as a late model hijet we can check things out for you.

If you take pictures of the part, then measure the important dimensions - I will measure the same part from my van.

I'd take a blind guess that the rear hubs might be interchangeable, and other core components. Although there may be slight tweaks in the design.

Yea it looks pretty cool. I think i'm gonna get rid of those and print out some new vinyl sticker with some other text.
