Does anyone know the symptoms of cam shaft sensor faliure, or has anyone had to replace one?

Not on a hijet, but on other machines when they fail you definitely get the engine warning light and it will run like the biggest pile of poo ever - if it even runs.
It totally measures the position of the engines rotation so it knows where to spark and when to squirt like a good girl.
