Nipping to Argos today to pick up stuff, gets out, wife says "what's that running out the van?"
luckily it was just a rusty hose clip that had gave up, nipped down and got some new clips(you get special hose clips from Pirtek, waay better than Jubilee clips) Well it gave me an excuse to change the antifreeze and it was a nice day

It's funny until we got ours I had nevers seen spring clips on a pressurised system but had one fail and replaced with a jubly clip may not be as nice as a pirtek one but does the job.

Know what you mean, though in fairness it broke in half when i squeezed it with the pliers, lots easier than trying to cut off old shitty jubilee clips(which are fine and if i had had 2 in the shed that's what would be on it )

Always use stainless steel ones or this sort if you have time to source these in the right size

If you mean these type things:-



They are fitted to pretty much all honda's, toyota's, mazda's, daiharders and kia's from the factory to name a few.

They work great, only problem is they are use once items, but wise old dealerships, garages, diy'ers try to reuse them.

When they are new the springiness is well strong, so they seal amazing, but when you leave them in situ for ten years then take them off all their sealing springiness power is gone.

I had to do a an 04 plate MX-5 a couple of years ago after the dealership had put a new rad hose on the car because it had split, and obviously with re-used clips. Then after 6 months of running it has lost its coolant and over heated, after testing some of the remaining fluid it came up positive for exhaust gases, so I stripped it down to find it had cracked the cylinder head.

Expensive moral of this story - don't reuse use once clips or trust dealerships!!

I like those ones too rich, they put an even load on the hose all the way round unlike jublee clips that have that nasty pressure point and pinching effect where the folded steel bit on the back of the screw gate is.

Out of interest, what cars don't have a pressurised coolant system? I tend to work on jap and korean machines which are all pressurised to memory

realllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllly old ones with electricky designed by witches and marine engines as they also don't have rads they just draw in water from what it is they is sitting in and then pump it back out a little warmer.

I can vouch for that, having had a few snap shut on my fingers when assembling clutch master cylinders!
