Re: bike carbs
Yeah I do, I think they are off a Kawasaki ZZR.
They look identical to mine off my 1993 ZZR400 - but externally the same across the different capacities.

Re: bike carbs
I'd have thought they were off a retro styled bike, as the 2 outside carb tops are chromed.
These look the same...

Re: bike carbs
Looking at my bike as its in bits in the garage now the diaphragm covers arn't quite the same as my early zzr400 ones.

Re: bike carbs
I have found out that they are indeed cb750 f2n 1992 ish thanks for the help I've got them split into two now and got about half way through the conversion on to my manifold plate just got some lathe work and I can get them all ready for fitting.
Re: bike carbs
They are going on my mk3 escort 1600, the bore size is 35mm and this matches the injection inlet plate I'm using as a adaptor plate and with the cb manifolds I can get a good flow for two cylinders (1&2 + 3&4) so I've split them in the middle and it'll only be a few custom bits to make them wide enough and a little easing on the manifolds and adaptor plate is all thats needed. Should give me better fueling so better economy as I have the shite Ford made double choke Weber at the moment.

Sounds like fun
just a thought, but rather than seperating the carbs into 2 pairs, couldnt you just use 4 short pieces of rubber/silicone hose to join them to the manifold(s)?

Re: bike carbs
No the mk3 is front wheel drive so limited space to the bulk head and not to split them I would need two 90 degree bends to get the outer two to connect them with hose the normal way with car carb kits is a pair of twins which run on a comon fuel rail and connected throttle and choke, my cold fuel curcuit is on a rod with some flats to lock the keys to I need to make a extention for the fuel feed as it comes in a tee piece and a extention for the throttle control also mounted in the middle, when I have drilled and tapped the adaptor plate I'll post some more pics as I need them mounted to measure up for the bits I need to make.
Re: bike carbs
Nice project Rich, good luck with the setup, its always the tuning thats the right bugger.
I made some thing similar a few years back for the toyota 5efe engine, heres my article on my site:-
http://www.bargainspares.com/toyota-quad-itb-conversion-for-5efe-4efe-cynos-starlet-tercel-paseo-sera-corolla-from-cbr-throttle-bodies/
Although mine were just throttle bodies as I'm a lover of electronic fuel injection. I can do efi tuning, jetting seems a right nightmare to me.
I also made 3 other sets through popular demand for some other toyota owners. Made a few quid on those!
Maybe a nice idea to compliment your carbs would be some lambda sensors in you exhaust manifold? Might help get the tune right easier.

Re: bike carbs
EFI is good when it work but I'm one for proper carb setup which is why I'm chaging to these as for lamba sensors thats what the plugs are for get the mix right and they look like fine milk chocolate, I've split the carbs and got the base drillings in the manifold plate I'm using so I can do my measuring and then get the lathe out to turn up the bits I need then I can finish the plate and get into the tuning side once the carbs and airbox are all sorted as I have a sort of ram air system through the bonnet that also needs finishing and the thought of using the rubber or silicon hoses has helped I was still thinking about haw I was going to do that bit. some pic of so far:-
Re: bike carbs
Yes, I know the Mk3 is front wheel drive (which is why I prefer Mk1 and Mk2 Escorts :p)
the piccys allow your description to make more sense though
looks like it will be fun, once its fitted and working
are you going to be running 4 individual mini air filters, or a big single one inside the airbox?

Re: bike carbs
My Missus has a Mk2 in the garage but I got to drop a new lump in it as I blew it up and it won't even start now.
I will be using one big filter as the small ones don't breathe well enough and with the air scoop I should get a bit of forced induction so the bigger the filter I can run the better.
and as you can see there is a bit of Mk1 inspiration in the design I did start by using a Mk1 grill but it was made of very cheap alloy and to make it fit right I would have had to get another and cut & shut which would have been a nightmare to weld.
I am after a rear mounted transaxle out of a porsche maybe as I would like to run a V6 and rear wheel drive.

Re: bike carbs
Just thinking ahead does anyone know of a 90 degree, 54mm (2.12") ID rubber hose thats stock on something as I will need four and can't afford in the region of £100 for four bits of silicon hose to connect the carbs to the airbox when these go on the car.
Re: bike carbs
right found a blindingly good deal at the local car boot sale I picked up a GSXR600 fuel pump for a whopping 50pence cleaned up the contacts and sort of had it running but only on a battery charger anyway these seem to be the fuel pump of choice for bike carb conversion but as the bike has some gravity feed and the car does not anyone got an idea where I should mount it as I can't find anything other than this is the pump to use I know in normal car pumps you have short pull - long push and long pull short push so I think the gsxr one should go bottom of the engine bay so it has some gravity to help, any thourghts
Re: bike carbs
Well if you work out the head height between the fuel tank and the carb float chambers on the original bike you can then determine the natural pressure that the carbs are normally fed by. Under the force of gravity 10 meters of head = 1 bar.
So then if you get a fuel pressure regulator, some thing like this maybe:- http://www.fuelpumpsonline.co.uk/sytec-flo-pro-fuel-pressure-regulator-carburettor-1-5psi-30-p.asp
You could then limit back the flow to give you the feed you require.
Not 100% planned out to the T, but you get the idea of the system you need to implement.
Also, back to your previous post about elbos, have a look a the elbos that BMW's and VW/Audi use in there turbo/boost hoses, from memory they are about the right size and will not dissolve from the heat/petrol/oil enviroment your looking to apply it too. Maybe a few scrap yard visits are the key, and a good day out

Re: bike carbs
Elbows first I was thinking turbo piping just had no idea if it was a common size or not.
As for the fuel pump pressure is not a problem as car has a return pipe I can adjust the flow back to the tank I was thinking more along the lines a bike has the fuel tank about 6" above carb fuel inlet where as the car has the fuel tank about 12" below carb fuel inlet, the pump I have got hold of is the one that all the kit car builders rave about but noone talks about placement.

Re: bike carbs
I'd put it somewhere that it can self prime, e.g. below the level of the fuel and gravity fed so no syphon out the top of the tank etc, then the rest is immaterial really.
But that's just a fail proof wild guess. It might be able to prime itself so out the top could be fine. And it might have a built in one way valve too, so it wont have to prime every time.

Re: bike carbs
Right over the xmas break I hopefully will get my carbs finished but I am in need of some cold fuel valve caps as circled in green on the pic I ave tried Allens performance and they were not helpful really even told me that with out the correct airbox the CV carbs wouldn't work because the pressure would be wrong! But they sell little cone filters which are crap because they don't have a large enough filter area on anything bigger than a 28mm choke.
So if anyone has Kehin carbs and they look the same I would like to know or better still have a couple spare?

Re: bike carbs
Right just need to get the plastic bits for the cold idle circuit valves and some jets and I will be fitting my carbs and starting to tune them.
for setup I'm using a pair of mtb noodles as using mtb cables for throttle and choke control but once up and running I'll make another plate and machine up some tasty looking pulley wheels and guides and mount the cable adjusters in a L bracket on the end carb top.
