New wheels Empty New wheels

I thought I would post a couple of pictures of my wheels
I think they were intended for a Ford Fiesta so they had to be modified from
108mm (4 1/4")pcd to 110mm. they had steel inserts, so I nocked them out and machined
some eccentric replacements

Nice wheels CD and very neat job with that bit of Lathe Work. Seriously, you could be on a good little earner there with Ford Wheels if you felt so inclined. Mind you trying that trick with 4x100 might be just a little bit tricky even for a man of your considerable skills.

Unless you can machine up spacers with Daihatsu studs fitted. That would get you quite a bit of work on here my friend. Do I get any commission?? Rolling Eyes

The problem I see with spacers to change the PCD is that it will ad extra unwanted offset, I had thought
about cutting and banding some standard wheels, and might yet do some if I trip over a spare set.
the other thing that is a bit of a problem is tyres, I wanted 175 / 70 / 12" so that it would not alter the circumference, and there wasn't much choice.

How about one of these Maxmiler 185/60/12's ? On a Smiths Wheel for Ifor Williams Trailers. But I think that they are rated at 50mph but whether that is loaded or unloaded and just the recommended top speed I don't know. They must be 8ply.

Also I thought that banded rims were made illegal years ago in the UK. Maybe wrong.

Where did you find the white tyre stripes? The wheels and tyres look great.

I looked at trailers tyres but decided against because they are not really designed to do the same job as
driven / braked tyres.
I got the (white walls) from a supplier that I use for motorcycle tyres, but he also does car tyres. http://www.tyre-finder.co.uk

There are several companies still doing banded widened steel wheels - so obviously they are still legal.

Deals on Wheels in the 70's did them on an exchange basis - until they got caught by the Police for fiddling British Railways out of thousands of pounds by understating the weight of the wheels and thus paying less for the BR Delivery service.
They did not last long after the vast Police investigation.

Deals on wheels, you must be as old as me !
I did a set of banded wheels for my sons Micra K10 a few weeks ago, it was a lot of work but they did look good. I used dye penetrant to test them before painting and he drove 300 miles back to Uni the next day.

I really wanted white walls for my Datsun! They're in the brochure with those tyres, but were never sold with them as far as I know. I couldn't find 12" anywhere, so I bought regular ones. Haven't used them yet... Was also thinking of painting them.
